Chip, I never forget when you said that your Dad always told you to pay attention to the details. And there you are fixing little details like a sharp edge on the wheels, still following your Dad's advice. I too follow your Dad's advice and I've learned that little details are actually a big deal!

The chief engineer of the Lincoln vehicle office back the late ‘60s always lectured his team on the importance of “TREMENDOUS TRIFLES”. He also included features in his cars, not mentioned in the advertising, to “SURPRISE AND DELIGHT” the customer.

I like how some guys try to give training to other guys who are really good at what they do. It's like being a good driving and knowing the roads and someone telling you where to turn to get there. Maybe they need help sometimes,but you are watching a master at work.

This is so cool. I was wondering if maybe for the gold resto, you could take a page out of the portrait painting restoration book and cover the original paint with a clear barrier that's easily removed but won't hurt the original paint. That way you can work with different shades until you hit the perfect one, and if anyone ever wants to remove it, it can be done without hurting the original paint. I dunno. Just an idea.

10:03 drove home (pun intended) for me at least how far automobile design has come in the last 70 years. Keeping in mind this is an automatic transmission, look at the gear selector indicator as they pan across the dashboard.

Hotwheels did pretty good this year with the Hirohata Merc in 2 colorways, complete with tiny Barris Kustom tampo logo for $1.20. I'd like to see this licensed to HW for a "mint" original candy looking version of this. 👀

Man oh man, Chip we are all so lucky that it was you who found this car and you taking us along to see the master show love to a well deserved Barris ride, kind of crazy to think stuff that is and nobody knows about, I have lived within 50 miles of North Bend since 1960 and the countless times being in North Bend I must have been in the area or who knows maybe really close once, it's truly been cool to see I can't rate it because it would just have to go shoulder to shoulder everything you touch or do.... Top step!

The only thing I would change is the exhaust to gold exhaust pipes on each side and paint the blue interior red and change the seats to red and gold it seems like something that was in the plan and they just didn't get around to it....... 😎😎😎

I got to have a 10 minute conversation with him last year, it was the first time meeting him. Neither of us even mentioned a word of what we do professionally, just a casual chat. And he showed us a photo of his then new girlfriend!

I am following you since the release of first episode of Overhaulin'. My dad had 1966 Chevelle (4 doors version) and 1978 Buick and I was in love with those cars. I'm glad Chip found this car and asked to help. It could have fallen to a flipper that just flat black painted it. Then sold it for as much as they could and it would be an invisible car to its history. It's a high water mark for the time of Hot Rod's., Bobby Socks and Rock n' Roll.

Now this is they way things like this are done and it's a damn shame that not too many shops like this even exist anymore, especially here in the northeast, out here we're totally screwed and on our own in the classic and custom car world, so many places like this have been regulated, taxed or fined right out of business!!! 😢

Chip fully explains what was wrong. They had a ridge on the edge of the rim making it really sharp. So he’s softening them down to make it easier to paint and not potentially cause a blowout

The old wheels needed new tires. I assume chip didn't want to mess with them and wanted to be able to provide the original wheels and tires with the car when it sells, so he got new wheels that can easily take a radial tire for a new set for driving.
