It is a tough choice as to which attribute to be most impressed by, his unparalleled athletic ability or his unpretentious humility. This man was a rare breed as a college and pro player.

My dawg averaged 295.4 all purpose yards PER GAME, his Heisman season. There were college teams who didn't average 295 yards per game, as an OFFENSE, that year.

Barry switzer was the head coach at Oklahoma in the 80's. His team was about to play Oklahoma state. Thurman Thomas was the starting running back. Coach switzer warned his team that if Thurman Thomas gets hurt, dont get comfortable at all. Oklahoma state had a back up named Barry Sanders who is more dangerous than Thurman.

Coach Switzer had the incomparable Marcus Dupree from Philadelphia, Mississippi and didn’t treat Dupree like the legendary running back he was becoming.

I remember how disappointed I was when he retired. I just didn’t understand why. I get it now. To bad he couldn’t have played for a team that he didn’t have to carry. I also didn’t appreciate his class and humility back then and I do now.

Once again let me say- If he played behind the Cowboys offensive line like Emmitt he would've averaged 2500 per season.

Mr.Tim I agree. Steve McMichael from Chicago Bears summer it up. Trying to tackle Barry Sanders was like trying to catch a fly. You think you got him but when you open your hand he is not there.

Only way it wouldn't happen is because of him taking himself out of blowouts, because Barry Sanders. Could have had as many 2k seasons as all other RBs combined if he had Emmitt's line.

I doubt we ever see a running back as great as Barry Sanders again. Nobody will even come close to touching what he did his last season at Oklahoma State. Did Barry Sanders ever once get hit hard? Barry had a supernatural ability to know where everyone on the field was and the ability to avoid them.

THANK YOU! Well done, well done!! Hard to get all that footage, tie it together, keep the talk out of it. I loved the theme, but my love waned a little after three minutes, and by the end I was nearly humming the refrain, to my agony. You did a great job and with a subject like Barry we can all still, after all these years, appreciate competence, playfulness, and the amusing trait of handing the ball to the ump.
