I'm Puerto Rican and was lucky enough to represent PR in a youth tournament in the Dominican Republic when I was like 12 or 13. One of the things they did was take us to a Dominican League baseball game. It was ELECTRIC. Miguel Tejada, David Ortiz and a couple other players were there and it was probably the best baseball environment I've ever seen. The fans are something else and absolutely obsessed, totally bought into every single pitch and the style and swag of the players is 2nd to none. I was lucky enough to hit a home run during my 1st game, which as a 12 year old it's a big deal, and they basically treated me like a king the rest of the time I was there. I hit .600 in that tournament and it's still to this day probably the funnest 2 weeks of my entire life.

I grew up playing baseball in Canada. I was a decent player. I represented my city of about 200,000+ people a few seasons. I wasn't MLB quality or anything, but I could play. In my 20's after I was finished my playing days I visited the DR with a friend of mine who also grew up playing competitive baseball. On the beach outside of the resort a group of 10 year olds were playing a pick up game on the beach and asked us to play. They were no joke. When I was 18 playing in the championships for my province I didn't meet talent that good. It was a serious wake up call. They were incredible.

I had the chance to represent the USA in a tournament in the DR last summer called the Latin America Baseball Classic (LABC). This was the best baseball experience I have ever had, the players where some of the best kids I have ever seen playing, as we played games on a white socks academy field, right next to our game was the white socks and reds academy team playing a game as if it was a real profession game, they had drums and would sing and yell louder than any thing I’ve heard heard. It was cool seeing some of the fields I got to play in the video, and it is most true when baseball is considered a religion in the DR, it in a word, awesome

Manuel Garcia Bautista i was always wondering about Mexican baseball culture, because I know it’s relatively popular there. But in the area I live in there is a large Mexican American and Mexican immigrant community, but many of my friends there and their parents much prefer soccer over baseball. Is baseball seen as like a high class or snobbish sport in Mexico and is relatively out of reach for lower middle class and low income people in Mexico?
@manuelgarciabautista6537
4 жыл бұрын
RugbyRyan’s Reviews No,Baseball is not seen as a high class sport, of course soccer is more popular but baseball is more popular in the north of Mexico and soccer is popular in the south, and the reason why is soccer more important is due to the TV companies who prefer to broadcast they’re own soccer team so they can made more money for them, and another thing is that if we compare the North and South of Mexico is also a difference in the economic because in the North the economy is higher that in the rest of country, is just that in the north they are more closer to the US and is more easy to get influenced by the baseball
@corkyromano191
4 жыл бұрын
@@RugbyRyan yeah what Manuel Garcia said, and another factor is that baseball wasn't all that popular in mexico up until maybe a few years ago. Today there are a few more teams and the crowds are slowly getting larger and larger. So it's still a growing sport in mexico with A LOT of progress yet to be made.

Hi there Stark Raving Sports, i wanna show and express my gratitud to you guys for bringing to the international social communications or social media what me as a Dominican borned and proud , just as me coming at front and say that when we are as single and through eras reprecent this small island, that historically as a country and specially Dominican culture as people will always thank Cuba as the country and yes the Cubans gave us the boost to make posible that fact that we also had a dictator Rafael Leonilda Trujillo in early 1900s and share with us just like them being an island that the country needs the rest of the world that we also a country that is free and brave to represent democracy also mixed cultures besides colonies as Spain that still today do not have what DR Cuba Or the whole LaTaM as Españoles call it which is culture music with art folklore and many many other Qualities as history went like Wars or man going to the moon, while small land wise or noticed internationally made it in fields that humans did not care at the time the best in the world in medicine like Cuba Baseball prospects factory in DR and so many others like musicians that internationally are know as pioneers on Merengue Bachata and even Son which is Cuban. What im saying is not only that im proud to be from here but also to let everyone out there that there is always an excuse but also that the way out to do nothing about such topics will also be lazyness on a nation just because ive learned that If im Dominican truth is that a country was made to divide humans while it did backfired because of greed envy control and ego wanting to be way better than the highest

Baseball is also religion in Venezuela although our league LPVB focuses more on pitching and defense this is why you don’t see more Miguel Cabrera types and you will see more Altuves or Omar vizquel types although there have been more sluggers coming out in the past 20 years or so.
