I guess an iranian Jew brought the melody from his former land to Israel, then. It's only a guess but it's most probable. That's the way cultures keep mixing in Israel. Let's hope Iranaians and Jews will listen to their musics; they speak the better language. Thank you for your message.

I went to school w/a beautiful Persian boy. When I sang this song, he sang it back w/different words. He said we stole it from his country. I agreed to buy him lunch so he forgave me. I pray someday Iran and Israel will both have leaders that care for all their people and live in peace with their neighbors.

Thank you! I thought it was a sad song! We won state competition with this song and we were told to sing it like with as much passion as if we were in the holocaust. 😓 We did win though.🤷🏼♀️ I didn’t understand the tempo of this version but seeing the lyrics I do see it’s a song of wishful happiness, trying to be strong and just make it til next year. Thank you so much for the translation.

LOVE this song because I wanted to be Jewish. I have cousins which are Jewish. I have been to two Bar Mitzvahs and they were fantastic.I have a yarmulke (kippah) from each party. This is the Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) song. The song is in Sesame Street: Celebrates Around the World. I heard this in the movie. I found this song here and now want to learn Jewish on RosettaStone.

That is wonderful! However this is sung in Hebrew. A Blessing on your head for your heart's yearnings. Jewish language is Yiddish. I think you want to learn Hebrew, although if you can mange to learn Yiddish you will be helping to keep the lingua franca of Northern western and Eastern European Jews alive as there is so much music and literature and songs written in Yiddish. Again A Blessing On Your Head and May He Who Watches Over Israel, Who Never Slumbers or Sleeps always watch over you and your family. Zein Gizint ( (to) your health (may you be healthy) in Yiddish).

Is serious in commitment on conversion to Judaism best is go Orthodox. Much easier later on in life. Also one does not need to convert to be close with Hash_m. Torah does not teach that. There is A new book out I very much recommend for you. " The World Of The Ger " by Rabbi Chaim Clorfene and Dovid Katz. Whatever your path is. May you be guided in ways of Torah. Blessings to you & your family. Am Yisrael chai.
