*I disagree entirely.* Facilitating the misinformation is how I’d categorise it. I was the first to build a free prediction tool in January for the world and he won’t tell *anyone* about it as he doesn’t want people to know the truth... I’m so disappointed in John it’s actually “too stupid to be stupid”. I think it is just a classic case of linear one dimensional thinking. Very unfortunate, so many more people could have been helped if not for all this regurgitating of main stream narratives.

It was a lovely few moments thinking that all over the world people are involved in the wide range of consideration of the dreaded virus. Your vids have offered a huge steadying of the emotional reactions we can have. Having information and getting good advice helps us survive and allowing us to have confidence in our ultimate survival and the elimination of the virus and eventual safe hugging and kissing of loved ones. For now we can do this. It’s ok to have some sleep irregularity, I think, and to go back to bed. @@patricia-leas22 There's a Korean (I think) lad, who's posted a couple of his presentations on KZitem - maybe as college projects; I'm not sure. There's one where he explains how he learned English - it was by watching TV as a kid, mostly. He's really good at it too :) So, this might be where you start to learn Spanish. I find languages are easier to follow if you see them written down, and know a bit about the context - though I don't claim to understand any properly. Speaking them is easier than understanding them - all you need to start speaking a new language is a phrase book, and a pronunciation guide. Asking for a lemonade or directions to the toilet in Greek, or Portuguese was easy. Understanding the answers was much harder :) The most useful phrase I ever learned to say in Portugese was "I don't speak Portuguese"... and I've forgotten how to spell it. It was something like "Nao falo Portugesh". #masks4all

NYC, which accounts for 1/2 of the US cases, has double the population of the ROI, all stacked up on top of each other. The illustrious mayor of that fine city, admonished New Yorkers to go about their business and even gave movie suggestions during the 1st week of March. Not surprising what's happening now. The US is a patchwork of local, state, and Fed .gov agencies, which may or may not be working towards a common goal at any given time, unfortunately. Throw in 320 million people, about 1/2 of whom don't care much for the .gov of *any* type telling them what they can/can't do, and you have the perfect storm. Trust me, there are LOTS of people taking this very seriously, but it only takes a few who don't to screw it up for everyone who does, that's the shame.
@skyhawk_4526
4 жыл бұрын
I think you have to look at the big picture in the US. As madDog 67 said, NYC (and the surrounding area) is a huge mess right now because of the mayor's foolish initial responses combined with extremely dense population and reliance on crowded public transportation systems. However, Washington and California (which both had spiking epidemics much earlier than NY) are doing a very good job flattening the curve. Despite CA having a much larger population than NY (state), the new daily cases in CA are dramatically lower and the spread has been much less there and in WA. It's too early to tell how this will go in some other states, but clearly it will go a lot better in states that act early.
@anthonylogiudice9215

@@skyhawk_4526 NY has inept and corrupt leadership from the Governor to the Mayor. Don't be deceived by this Governor, Andrew Cuomo who has the US press in his back pocket because they share the same leftist worldview and hatred for the Orange man. Cuomo was told to purchase new ventilators (15,000) few years ago but opted to ration care (by reducing hospital beds) and use the money for other things. The press will not ask him that question. Bill Deblasio had been mayor for 7 years and is head of the public hospital system. He instead used a billion dollars of taxc money to finance hs wife's mental illness initiative that did nothing for people. It was a slush fund for his friends and his wife's friends.

Have been watching your daily briefings religiously the past 2 months. Thank you, Mr. Campbell. I live in Denmark. Our PM was on national TV last night. Our government now wants to slowly open society. The first step will be allowing children up to 5 grade back in class. Max. 10 kids pr. class. However, if you look at our case numbers, we have had approx. 2100 registered cases since March 31. Basically, it looks like we are trying to implement a modified Herd immunity strategy (mind you, our PM doesn't like to use this label !). Our health authorities are saying we can open up to level where our hospitals can keep up. Sounds like an attempt at herd immunity to me. Since few countries are trying to follow this path, I wonder if you might find time to mention your views on this approach in the near future. Which steps do you think societies should follow in the course of re-opening after a lock-down period ?

So far almost everyone I know has contacted me to say of all people they know I’m the most likely to die from it, kind of a harsh truth to keep hearing but one I am well aware of. I’ll continue to keep fighting on for my kids but I am way more scared than they or anyone else seem to know I am so I’m doing a good job of showing outer calm. Inside? Feeling total mayhem. He became very depressed stopped eating taking his meds & showing etc. He went from active doing yard work to needing a walker in 2 wks. We moved him in with me & he seems to be improving everyday? I think he was giving up & at 87 that can be dangerous! For some people being isolated is a danger in itself! I guess we need to be creative & make sure everyone is taken care of emotionally as well as physically 🙏

It alarmed me but I did a series of deep breathing exercises each time it happened and that sorted it out and I was fine. It's worth a try. If it is from anxiety it would work for that anyway. Good luck ❤

John - love your videos and explanations of COVID-19. Throughout you talk about testing, testing and testing. However, is it possible for you to present a video on the sensitivity and specificity of the different COVID-19 tests that are used throughout the world, and even the different ones used in the difference clinical settings. This is particularly important for any anti-body tests that are to be released. Most of these tests have been developed in a laboratory setting without any real clinical testing and so the differences in sensitivity and specificity can make a real difference and the results of testing even more confusing.

One child's letter to the PM was published and the PM noted they're "essential workers" but added the bunny might not be able to get around to everyone this year because they're look after their own bunny family in their own bubble. In case you're not aware, NZ has two concepts - the household and the bubble. Ideally your household is your bubble, but it's possible that your family has an extended bubble (covering one other household and your own, with that other household only allowed your household within their bubble... No "chain" of households is allowed. The bubble exists because some families share custody of their children and to allow for carers.).

Hi John greetings from Thailand, you have a new subscriber keep up the good work. I am retired and live in my wife’s village in the rural North East. I awoke this morning at 6am to the pleasant music coming from the local Wat (Buddhist church). I assumed the twice monthly service would be held over the loud speaker as our village is small. I nearly choked on my ginseng and lemon tea when my wife informed me, she was going as normal to the Wat. I flew off into a long-winded rant which boiled down to CV19 sneaky and bad, Buddhist monk. government stupid. She relented just to shut me up and retired to another room to seethe. At this point in time CV19 is officially about 9 miles away in our nearest town which is our de-facto town centre. I am afraid that when it reaches our village it will spread like wildfire and the entire village will end up quite rightly under quarantine. I think the government is now handling the situation quite well, they have indefinitely postponed Songkran (Thai new year), which is our xmas/new year combined. Closed many non-essential business, severely restricted travel, 10PM to 4AM curfew, etc, etc. I do however find the official figures hard to believe considering Thailand was the first to confirm CV19 outside of China on Jan 13th.However In late February a local doctor was saying he expected the hot season (average daily highs 35 to 40 degrees centigrade) to kill the virus. We are now 2 weeks into the hot season which might be slowing the virus down.

Taiwan closed down to travellers in January, only around 5 deaths, none added in April.

I think we'll find that in time NO COUNTRY will be able to contain this virus - and if they claim they have they they are almost certainly lying. Just the fact of asymptomatic spread makes it impossible. This was one of the reasons how we knew a week into January that we were in the initial stages of a pandemic. People mocked us back then, said we were fear-mongering and talking nonsense. So, if Taiwan, or any other country claims to have somehow contained this, then that information needs to be looked at very skeptically. No government in the world can contain a highly contagious virus that can spread through asymptomatic carriers. It is just impossible.

omg people *STILL* thinking face masks are not ESSENTIAL? Unbelievable.
@shanelevene4864

You can't blame the people. Almost every Western government, concerned the public would buy up all the masks and there'd be none left for the health workers, resorted to disinformation to stop them doing so. They actively told citizens masks were useless! Same as to stop panic just about every government ran the bullshit stories comparing flu numbers with SARS-CoV2. Those two decisions had a huge kickback that we are still suffering from. Another campaign that was run was in an attempt to keep the economy going they told people below 45 that they were all safe. That backfired too when the lockdown came into play and all those citizens who were told they were not at risk then disregarded the lockdown. The governments of this world have created these problems themselves. It's not the fault of the people. Stay Well, Alpha... And keep your loved ones safe.

Because they aren't - a face mask at home is not going to prevent you from getting COVID-19. The real risk are those who decide to venture out. Sure the mask may prevent some droplets from spreading but they won't protect you from the foreign surfaces that may contain COVID-19 nor the person sneezing or hacking up a storm.
@vegahimsa3057

Governments are lying to affect behaviour, not knowledge. Likewise, most believe the lie that everyone has comparable personal risk. It's simply not true and the lie will extend the epidemic far longer with more deaths than necessary.

Are they essential? No. The only thing that will protect you from getting infected 100% is to stay away from sources of infection. That will reduce your risk of infection to zero. But people don't want to stay away from other sources of infection. They are not prepared enough to do that, so they are willing to take a risk, yes? Wearing a mask will not remove your risk of being infected, it will only reduce that risk. Masks need to be used with all the other physical interventions to reduce your risk of infection to closer to zero. You still need to practice frequent correct hand washing, not touching your face, keeping 6 foot apart from other people, and only going out for essentials. After all, do nurses and doctors rely on masks alone? No; neither should you. Masks don't protect You - they protect somewhat other people from you and your pathogens. Learn how to use them properly. Look up the CDC guidelines and follow those to the letter.

All interesting and helpful. Still the situation is very frustrating tho. I know damn well I've had it mid february. There has been 1 death and a 2 week hospitalisation in my circle of friends before the authorities even realised the virus was here (London, mid Feb- mid March). We need an immunity test badly so that the 15 -20 odd % of people can start helping all the others. And I'm guessing 40% in my local. The head barman caught it on a flight back from Ireland 1st week feb and became patient zero in N14, working away sneezing and sweating behind the bar for a fortnight.

Regarding the high percentage of men in Intensive Care-could it have to do with their more robust immune system clogging up their lungs? Perhaps a less vigorous immune system is a blessing?
