Dear sir, Hearing the language is so important, and incredibly hard to find. So thank you so much for your efforts. I am just trying to learn my native language. Being Metis and visually white it has been impossible for me to find an elder to help me learn, and the classroom courses I have looked at concentrate more on how the sylabic translates to the english system, and less of how those sounds all work together and the relationship differentiations from diminuative to formal. I am 46 years old, and recently became a grandmother, the smattering of cree words my dad learned and taught us kids are both disjointed and more than likely innaccurate. His mother refused to teach them the language fearing that if they knew they would be stolen and taken away from her (circa 1930). So none of her 16 children know the language. There is one familial phrase that for me at this time I cannot find how it sounds.... my grandson... spelled in english it is nosisim napesis. can you help me out?

Yes you got it also the second word means boy. But good luck, I to have issues finding Cree speakers myself cause I do like talking it, to whom ever I can and could just can’t seem to find cree speaking crees :/ although when I was firefighting a lot of the older firefighters was able to speak Cree which was quite nice although it was quite a pain being called mooniyas(any white person) by the other young crees from different places/reserves that was based at the same firebase although it’s funny when you give you them shit in Cree cause most of them youth or younger folks I worked with could reply back. And my number 1 go to phrase for when shit talking and mad that I seem to go to is peyakwan macostim kaki paskisikawihon(just like those evil dogs you should be shot) or natawi macimantonohk (go to hell)

Very interesting. I speak 3 western languages. I wish I could speak a Native American Language. How cool Cree can SPLIT the 1st person of the plural into two different PPs/ personal pronouns: "WE"> PP subject & "US"> PP object) i.e. ( id est / that is), these two: A) Kîyanân "us" (excluding) (without the person you are talking to), vs. B) Kîyanaw (including) "US" (Us, including the person you are talking to. Also I found out that the huge territory of the French Louisiana, stretched from New Orleans ... all the way to a good chunk of today's south east Saskatchewan (where Cree is still spoken today). He grew up in foster care with a white family and he just never got to know who he was, and in our town there are no resources or teachers to help. We know Cree is an oral language and we can’t learn off Solomon Ratt’s, Arok Wolvengrey’s and Jean Okimâsis’ books alone, so being able to hear it in videos like these is absolutely awesome and a great help to us!

The reason why so many native people don't speak their language makes it extra sad.. In my family roots there are at least 4 different languages and I just speak the language from the country I was born and raised in (not one of the four of my forfathers), and English.. My mom was Finnish for example and she never taught me and my brother, either. Because she figured it was hard enough to speak 3 languages (when I was little at some point I spoke Dutch, English and French. French I stopped speaking age 5). But somewhere I know she also did not mind that she could talk on the phone to Finnish relatives and her Finnish best friend and noone knew what she was saying.. Unless she by accident said one of our names (my name is Solveig).. But she would always say "I was talking about another Solveig" lol! Nonsense haha

Thank you for doing this. My grandfather came from Ireland but he learned to speak Cree. When I was small, a friend would come to visit him and they would converse in Cree. I didn’t know what was happening and I would take off! Haha!

Danielle Clark kisâkihitin-i love you Mîna-and also Kikaskêyimitin-i miss you Mistahi kikaskêyimitin-i miss you alot Nêhiyawêwin is a straight forward language so to say to the heavens and back is possible but wouldn't make sense in cree as it does in English. Cree expressions are different from akâyâsimowin(English)

Thank you so much for this video. As a child I didn't think it was important to spell this with my grandmother and now it's too late to rely on her. It feels like it gets me closer to her culturally. Very much appreciated
