Although I already knew how to set points, I still found this entertaining! Please carry on, I think this channel could be very successful!

Entertaining as usual, and despite having been meddling with cars my entire adult life, I still learned something. Keep up the good work!

Cheers mate, quality as always. Since buying the car everyone has been securely up my a**e about switching to electronic ignition. So out of stubbornness I'm going to keep the points going.

I took out the correct measurements stick and put in on my car key ring, ... very convenient.

have been having distributor issues on my 59 morris lately, so this was something of a blessing! it's my first car, so i'm not much experienced with all this 'points' magic yet, besides some fuel pump jiggery-pokery, but i'm figuring it out (just about)!

This is very good! Thank you. How easy is it with the dizzy in situ?

Depends on the car! On a Morris minor the access is pretty good, so it’s not a bad job at all.

I was always ham fisted as an apprentice and it would take 3 attempts to get points set correctly, I would tighten the lock screw and that's where it all went to hell in a hand cart! 😂

I have electronic ignition on my Moggy but I carry points and a condenser in case of failure.

If you do go with leccy ignition don't buy the full dizzy kit... they are cheaply made in China with bob weights and springs that might be way out from the curve of the original dizzy. Some are so poor the shaft doesn't even fit the hole in the block! Always best to buy a leccy kit to fit to an existing original dizzy. That should be no more than £40. At least then you know the dizzy is OK. I've had issues with cheap condensers.. they reduce the length of wire inside to save money. And because they are so cheap there are no comebacks.

All of what you say is indeed true! If the old distributor is serviceable, definitely best fit the electronic module to it!

Aaah! When things were simple, before the manufacturers decided to take away our ability to fix even the basic stuff.
