Thank you for your consistency with posting and sharing your hard-earned wisdom. I love how you elucidate the various aspects of martial knowledge, history, philosophy, and practice. As there are usually multiple applications within a single movement or technique, I would love to see a few short examples of possible appropriate usages after you walk us through fundamentals and body mechanics. Thanks for your time, and keep up the excellent work! 🙏🏽

There’s so much to this move that it no longer feels like “basic practice.”

Truth is that most Chen style teachers, especially in public class settings, don't go over this stuff. Some of this is just the basic choreography (note, to Hai Yang's lineage) but if everybody's on a different page or the teacher has a different focus, not everyone will be able to take this in. Especially at a pace of one new movement per class, and if nobody practices. If people from other lines are taking this video in as a guideline, that's fine in some ways but it just goes to show what kind of instruction they are being deprived of.

Thanks for this. I’ve been doing Chen Taijiquan since 2001, and there’s always another layer to uncover.

This is a good example of internal versus external. Even though the moves between the teacher and the student are similar, the student hasn’t found the internal yet

Thanks you Master Yang. I think these types of videos are really good. Maybe you can do a series showing the same corrections for an entire taichi series, from chen zhaoki erlu form?

I would like to see more of the application in this because I find single whip very illusive in its application. Once while working with a Ninjistu practitioner, we practiced a move that was very similar to Single Whip and I said "Oh there it is."
