Children stop squabbling and watch this smart guy who cared enough to teach you something useful and helpful. And don't forget it was us Brits that named the front of the car a bonnet and the rear section the boot - at least my USA buddies had the good sense to call them the hood and the trunk....ali-min-you-um as us Brits say doesn't roll of the tongue as good as alum-inum either okay? now settle down, sit up straight, arms folded, and listen up otherwise you'll never get of the ground....

Thanks for this informative series. Answered about bullet connectors, soldering in Chapter 5. Chapter 6 was great help in understanding programming the electronic components and their relationship. Time well spent for those of you who want to get into this hobby. The forums at rcgroups dot com also offer many great insights, advice and inspiration. What does it cost? you can start with a RTF toy from amazon for $50. Great for first timers. Pictured here, everything is probably $400-$500 or more.

Just thought I'd clear things up. I was really just taking the piss when I posted that, you guys are all over-reacting so much, it is quite amusing. I am well aware that things are said differently across the water, it is only natural (and totally acceptable) that there would be slight deviations due to the distance and the time in which america was first colonized by Europeans. Also, I'm Irish, not British, but aye, for the most part, we do use the same spelling as them. Now play nice :L

1ST POINT OF IGNORANCE: Have you ever used a multinational phone or computer? You know how you can pick a language and it says English (US), English (UK)... They are different dialects of the same language. Also Spanish is the same way (Latin America) or (Spain). Neither is more correct than the other. 2ND POINT OF IGNORANCE: British people (also referred to as the British, Britons, or informally as BRITS) are citizens of the United Kingdom. I hope this has helped you learn a few things.

I am so ready to build a quad but no very little, these videos are great. My problem is not knowing what motors to buy. I am shooting for a quad that is less than 2.5 kg so lets say it comes in at 2.5kg(complete) its kind of hard to choose the right motors to buy to before you know the completed weight. I figure 4 motors should come in at 1.6 to 2.5 pounds depending on their weights. The video mentions twice as much thrust as weight? So a 5# copter needs 10# of thrust or 2.5 from each motor?

Thank you very much for video. I learn so much. I would appreciate it if you post a list for all the parts and include the remote controller. it would make it easy for me. Also, where can i purchase them. i never build one before and i dont have the experience. Also, the frame drawing. You can put it in PDF file, it easy to down load. Thanks again for all your teaching and help.

At the end of the day you Americans still speak English, so learn proper English or create a new language. Secondly stop calling people from Britain Brits as that would imply that they come from all over Britain, that would be like me calling you North American, which is stupid because you come from one country not multiple countries.

Btw, insisting you shouldn't insult someone with ignorance, being so ignorant you insult someone with both that AND thinking you actually know something about Chemistry and I don't is way worse. I assume you have studied Chemistry? I studied it for 2 years now.

Has anyone heard or besides me, seen the november 3rd massive swarm flyover San Francisco at 830 pm? Me and some nearby people witnessed it. It seemed like at least 60 craft, in the dark btw, and I think they were quite high up as they were over twinpeaks which is already 920 odd feet.

Brits have one version, Americans have another. That's right, they're both correct! To say an American pronouncing something correctly in his country because it doesn't match the British way of saying it... is incorrect. That is the rules, you may not like them... but that's still how it works.

No, it was not. There *IS* a logic behind calling it aluminum. You bet it sounds terrible, in my mother tongue we use aluminium. We use the term Alumina, and not "aluminia". The "um" termination is more consistent with other oxides, such as magnesia, ceria, and thoria. Ignorance is forgivable, but not when used to insult others. If you have inflammatory opinions at least make sure you know anything about Chemistry before spitting them out.

I never see motors listed in terms of thrust. I only ever see KV , or RPM / V. How do i determine how much thrust that can make ? I'm only going to build a quad weighing roughly 400grams. I just want to know how do i work out what to fit. I Don't need anything more than 15 / 20 minutes in the air and have no plans for camera gear on this, my first coptor so i guess a lipo big enough to do that is the next thing i need to work out. Can you help me please ?

Sorry that what I meant kv per rpm. You cannot put a blanket statement that our motors or based on rpm's.its based on volts. We have to coincided prop size, battery voltage, kv of motor which we measure in watts.

The original spelling is actually aluminum and it used to be pronounced as such. Britain then changed it to aluminium. Recently though there was a trade and it is now officially aluminium. Therefore they are both correct.

No, you were talking about laziness and pronunciation. Those who *wrote* (it did not surge from speech) aluminum were actually pretty well educated. I think it's also important to mention that back then the American variant of English was not as differentiated as it is today.
