I just watched your video. You are an awesome teacher. I have so much twine I have saved knowing I could recycle it. I made a door mat, making an oval rug for kitchen. Now I can make baskets. Thank you!!!!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the compliment! You know, you can consider making hanging planter baskets, belts, horse tack, even garden lattice, and a bunch of other fantastic stuff! Just let your imagination take over! What ever you can use string for, you can do the same with bailing twine! I wish you the best of luck on your creations!

It really is! I use them as planters for out doors! They are excellent and colorful! You could even make hanging baskets with it too! There are a whole lot of cool things you can make from twine, when you put your mind to it!

What a great way to use this necessary but nightmarish and almost indestructible product! It really is making a silk purse out of a sow's ear!

Hahahaha! Amen! You know, you could probably crochet or knit it into stuff as well! Maybe folks could weave it into out door mats, rugs, belts, or bags? It's a reusable resource, so it would be a shame to waste it!

The two strands that you were twisting and weaving - what did you do with them when you were finished weaving? Didn't see that part

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how you add more support strands, to weave your long lacing strands through? If so, I plan to make a video demonstrating that technique in the next few weeks. I will be teaching people how they can weave a round rug, with out a lume. The ability to add more strands, that you can weave around will be essential in keeping a tight rug, with out it turning into a basket, and remaining flat. I should have that video posted in a month or so, so please keep watching my channel! Thanks for your question, and I will be sure to add it into my round rug weaving video!

@@basichomesteadingandsurviv3699 Oh yes ! it's about adding more support strands ! I'm trying on my own, with twine. But I don't know if it's the good method... So I'm waiting for your video !!! Thank you !

Where do you get your colored bailing twine? Any suggestions for ordering? Is long I make some of these for Christmas!

Find someone with a farm. Most livestock owners have piles of bailing twine laying around. In my area, you are limited to the colors the hay bale was wrapped in. If you talk to farmers and ask if they have bailing twine they want to give away, or make an add on Craigslist. I'm sure you will get more twine than you know what to do with. Best of luck.

My twine is tightly wound. Yours seems loose and flatter. Did you loosen the strands before weaving?
@basichomesteadingandsurviv3699

I actually washed and dried my twine in my washing machine to remove all dirt off of them. Getting them really clean made the ends melt and stick together better. It's possible that the washer and dryer had a "loosening" effect, but it wasn't my intent to do that.

How did you learn this?
@basichomesteadingandsurviv3699
Жыл бұрын
Well, I just watched a couple videos on KZitem to gain a few basic ideas on how to do it. One guy made a small blackberry vine basket, then I watched a lady, who was weaving a rug, using a twisted method. It's basically all different forms of weaving, with similar foundational principles. So, I figured I would put the ideas together, with a few of my own, using a free resource I had in hand. Nobody taught me to do this. I just threw different ideas other people had, and winged it. I just got lucky, so I figured I could make my own videos and teach what I have learned to others. But honestly, I learned some basics, on KZitem and then I winged it.
