My go to is a penn prevail 9ft medium and a daiwa bg 3500 15lb-20lb braid with a leader of 50 or 60 fluoro to a 75lb tactical angler clip to a hydro pencil and a saltwater spook 5 inch in bone with single treble on tail of lure.

Hey Kyle, Any experience with the Heavy/Fast St. Croix Tidemaster or Mojos? Looking for a good eel slinging boat rod (7'-6"?). I just sent in a broken st croix and need to replace it with another (Warranty). Pairing with a 4000 Series Diawa BG and using 20-30 Braid. Any Advice would be appreciated!

Kyle's response:I would go with Mojo MH or H. If you don’t mind a split grip handle. We should have both in the store for uto feel before you make a choic

I love my Avid MH/Fast, great sensitivity, easy to work soft plastics, topwater, etc. I am just looking for something bit heavier for casting larger top water plugs, and live baits. I will see you guys this weekend to check em out, Thanks!

Have a fierce II 4000 looking for a rod like the combo rod but little better but an all round use not specific saltwater 3 or 4 times a year from boat and then fresh water. Thinking 7’ 3/8-1 oz rating. And 20# braid. Have a rod recommendation under $100. I have looked at the hurricane calico jack. And penn prevail II inshore. Ugly stick inshore select and other similar Ross. Want at least 3/4 oz rating for the high number.

i like Braid all the way around. 30# is great to use for inshore

For a lighter spinning rod....20# braid will work well too due to the diameter being so small for its tensile strength
