He needs to have his eyebrows trimmed. 😀🤣 I find the jazz communities' resistance to the electric bass while readily accepting electric guitar hypocritical. At least Fusion Jazz accepts it readily.

Steve can certainly do what he wants with his eyebrows... Actually, there has been a lot of acceptance of electric bass in Jazz over the last few decades. it is a matter of choice. Thanks for watching and for your input! Please feel free to Like, Share and Subscribe to our channel.

My favorite Swallow answer (not here) for why he switched from upright: "Too much work for too little sound!" Amen. 😄

Steve Swallow a big reference for me. I heard first time in Chick Corea Inner Space (recorded 1966-1968). A then all his recordings, as leader, with Carla Bley, John Scofield and the list is big...

Steve Swallow is such a great player and composer. I've been listening to Swallow Tales for a few months now and it gets better each time I put it on. I think we're all ready to have the Covid pandemic behind us but the tease of Steve, John & Bill touring for this album makes me all the more anxious! Until then we have some great performances of that trio here on KZitem and on album. Great interview!

@@BassMusicianMagazine I am the bassist who profited maybe the most from Steve's switch to electric. He gave me his beautiful Polmann acoustic bass. He is a great bass player and as evident in this video a wonderful human being.

I love Steve Swallow but I am frustrated by how much this is about gear and how little about music.

Steve's playing is an inspiration to many bass players. That said, we like to know how he gets his sound so we might replicate some of it. Thanks for watching and for your input! Please feel free to Like, Share and Subscribe to our channel.

@@BassMusicianMagazine I would be willing to bet that Swallow's sound comes much more from his technique, his choice of notes, and his approach to the music than from his amp or direct box. I think he was very gracious in entertaining the gear questions though.

@@andrewpfaff6152 That is true. Most musicians simply show me their hands when I ask how they get their sound.I also found it interesting how Harvey has been building the evolving series of basses for Steve. Again, thank for watching and for your comments.
