Love the emphasis on the connection, structure, moving from the center, and explosiveness. Always great to see great karate

I've practiced Bassai Dai a long time but never really got such great study of the kata. I wish I could have attended this seminar in person. I will save it to my study list and review many times. Thank you for making this available for those of us who are teachers and forever students.

If I could come back in the next life as half Sensei Hotton and half Sensei Iain Abernathy, I'd be a happy karate man! Pretty much unbeatable as well...👍😁👍

This is another of Semsei Rick's videos i've watched...love how he takes the time to break everything down...too many instructors DO NOT. My instructors and Sensei were more "monkey see monkey do" teachers. So you don't really get as much as you should. And aren't executing the move fully/properly. You end up kinda getting it..which could actually be wrong...possibly injuring yourself...proper technique is so vital in any sport. Makes a task so much easier and injury free (e.g. Powerlifting).

Excellent comments on the necessity for balancing intensity with tension, esp. for dan grades.

The deep teaching. Way beyond the form. These internal movements are the essence of striking martial arts. I wish he was in Ohio.

Hello Rick, first I want to say, that your Karate and your Vids are very good. Thank you for sharing your knowlegde! In this Vid you show the Tetsui against the lower part of the rips. I prefer the kidneys, because, if you hit them, the head of the opponent will snap back and he loses stability in his legs. What do you thing about this possibility? greetings from Tanja
