I was with them when the Bats received their very first F-18D in the transition from the Intruders. Our sister squadron was 121 who I see are now flying the F-35's. Damn how the years can fly by.

So you were at El Toro back then. Me too. I flew the C models first with VMFA-314, then later transitioned to the D model in 121. They gave up the "AW" and the Hornet and took the F-35B. The Marines are taking the B and C model 35's. I'm still sad they let El Toro close. That was a great duty station and an awesome area to fly in. Every time we came in over Dana Point at 4000 for our standard programmed radar descent, it was awesome...

I was in 121, I recall the bat's being the joke of miramar, stealing 9 of our jets, and 3 from 225. Then turning around and claimed in the Marine Corps Times that they "worked so hard to get their aircraft ready" for their first combat deployment since Vietnam... Although I will admit, it was a pretty cool video.

One thing so pretty about the F/A-18 is that when there is a camera facing the pilot and he starts doing a high G turn you can see that vapor on the wings.

OOH-RAH SIR, SEMPER FI AND GREAT VIDEO!!! Miss the Corps like crazy! My first duty station was El Toro when it was still open. Was there from 92-late 95 before heading down to 11thMar. Miss sitting by the flight line and watching the 18's take off.

+roflcoptatbag DTS, is what I believe he said. Digital Terrain System. It allows the computers on board the aircraft to automatically find the altitude above sea level of the coordinates given by the JTAC. Just lessens the workload of the pilot. It sounded like he said DCS, but DTS would make much more sense in this instance I think

5 жыл бұрын
yes correct , latest GBU can be guided by laser or gps . do not forget to speak about JDAM bomb with gps capabilities to aim a target but in the beginning of chirugical war , all GBU-8;;.12;;.16 were lazer guided bomb , and because its seems that you are not noob about this , remember , in the beginning we need 2 aircrafts to use GBU on a single target , 1 choppers illuminating the target by lazer (( or its could be special forces group on the ground or a second plane )) and the main plane loaded with the GBU would open fire only if the target was illuminated , fortunately , today and also because of the training on all mil sim , they realized that its could be very difficult to hav 2 aircraft for 1 target , and now for that kind of strike all jet or most of them can carry a pod designator
@hunterascione5168
5 жыл бұрын
franck herman M. ouattara yep, FLIR pod for the a/c I loaded on. Loaded a ton of GBU-12’s in 2017. Still laser guided, as well as the JDAM Gbu 54...now let’s find out what came off of that TER lmao

do u realized that in a battlefield even if you hav a good avionics to detect targets at long range or to detect target without radar like designator pod u can be destroyed in less than 5 min above all if the battlefield is plenty of AA pod or AAA vehicules .since my childhood , everyth about military Equipment warfare , tactics strategy avionics ,special forces action with green bérets , navy seals units , marsoc is my cup of tea , i mean i cannot imagine my life without all of this , at 15 years old i discovered my first military sim about landing a tomcat on a deck probably the uss Reagan ( i dont remember ) that was for me a revelation , now i keep on doing mil-sim Inside my home-cockpit with a Professional aspect of doing everyth well from the start up procédures upto complete the mission and going back to the base , and i realized that in a real conflict with a opponent who has the the same military power than you it's could be extremely difficult to accomplish the mission and going back to base , fortunately our service men hav noone forces like china , russia or any other country like this to fight against. War is not somth that you can expected , no war is not good , and because i know everyth about this , definately i know what im talking about . big respect to our service men

Zkay360 When any object breaks the sound barrier, the air/water around him gets compressed and as i said before that makes the effect, is basically the same as i said before, but when you turn in a jet, the water is compressed against the jet (Beacouse of aeronidamics), and when breaking the sound barrier, the water is compressed against all directions.
