So many great tips on adding great detail to your minis! I love your feathering edge highlights, they really helped make each one pop. Great work Karl, thanks for sharing!

I usually don't even bother with highlighting skin, just put on base color and wash. Works good enough for dwarves. Really nice to see how you make the eyebiting highlight actually merge with the base in a transition. So much good advice here.

Thank you! Feathering and wet blending are really useful techniques, and they're easy to pull off so it's kind of a cheap win. On the other hand I didn't have a time limit, and base color and wash would work much better for someone who needs the regiment by yesterday. Good tricks to have up one's sleeve for individual models though.

Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed it! It really took longer than it should have, but that was mostly because of poor decisions that didn't scale well. On the other hand, that was lots of practice!

Yeah this is real discipline... I don’t know if I could manage that many of the same thing over and over again. A labour of love! So now you have an army of these guys, do you have a battle planned ?
@Karlmakesstuff

I don't think I'll do 20 at a pop again any time soon, maybe will try some smaller batches till I hit the sweet spot. No battles planned, I really prefer skirmish games, but these will be handy to have if I ever run Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. I think they can also stand in as weird gnolls or reskinned orcs for D&D, but we'll see :)

It was! The game itself took up quite a lot of space to play, but the minis padded up my empire army nicely. Will get around to paint them eventually.

Very impressive beastmen! I haven't painted the minis but during the years I have found extra copies of the minis and those I have painted, there are a few beastmen, but I wanted to give them the "ancient roman" uniform look they had in the cards, not as professional as yours, of course.
@Karlmakesstuff
Жыл бұрын
Nothing professional about these, I'm just a guy who enjoys painting tiny plastic toys :) They did look a lot cleaner in the cards, didn't they?
@oscarsiri2763
Жыл бұрын
@@Karlmakesstuff It is very professional! they are the regular troops. imagine they all looked different trying to be the main character. that's why I have painted only a few, every army need soldiers and captains. The card art showed greek/roman uniforms of the beastmen (look the skirts) and we can say they had standard equipment like an organized army, so I imagined they were a civilization that were transformed into beasts or something like that. Your beastmen army look like driven and ready to charge. The 3 I painted are the captains/heroes, I play a combination of Battlemasters and the Chainmail miniature game of 2001.
