Ha ha love "we've all been there". So true. Scary question do you think you'll still be DIYing in your 90s :)

I always choose vinyl flooring in bathrooms because you can basically ‘tank’ the floor. Once it’s siliconed, you’re safe. 😂 I don’t trust waterproof laminate floors, seen them buckle in bathrooms, don’t like tiles, grout is the enemy and they’re cold. We have the budget for any floor and choose sheet vinyl.

Couldn't agree more, will be interesting to see how the waterproof laminate does in kitchen as with our 3 bound to be lots of spillages but using cabin. to test out products.

Is that a Victorian Plumbing vanity unit? If so keep it away from water and humidity at all costs or I’d recommend returning. We have the same one and the mdf has swollen up and is destroyed and looks awful after only a year. They don’t seal the mdf properly. Currently pursuing the company for a refund.

Not entirely convinced about the pink paint, it looks like bare plaster! 🤔🤣

Nothing wrong with vinyl. Seriously, after ceramic tile (which you addressed the reason for not using) it would be my first choice for a high moisture area. I don't care how good the joints are on something like the LVL flooring, I would have my doubts about it long term in a bathroom. Personally wouldn't have bothered with the tape as that looks a pretty heavy vinyl. Did a floating vinyl installation in my kitchen and it's still there 20 years later with only a minor bit of wear showing and hasn't budged despite fairly high foot traffic.

Controversial but you missed off your list of floorings carpet! With 4 women there shouldn't be the old aim problem 🤣 Warm under foot, not the done thing but I am still holding out on it being the flooring of choice 👍

I would totally agree and grew up having carpet on my bathroom which I loved. Babies and potty training put me off. I think in the main house we will use a lot of rugs etc but with the dog and the general inability of anyone to remove their shoes hard floors are a must at the moment.

I used to mock my father having pulled a stick of a tree and to have used it for years for mixing paint. The bark had been stripped off it and it was around 1/2" thick, another 1/2" thicker after years of paint build up. The more middle class people we knew used a classy piece of broomhandle especially cut down for the purpose. If you don't have some stick to lay your hands on for this, you'll probably mess up. Give it some thought, commandeer some stick for the purpose...

Not watched it, just wanted to answer: screed. Lots and lots and lots of screed. Over the old tiles!
