In the time I spent in Togo, I had the opportunity to watch and film the process of Batik art.
My friend Makafui, was teaching this technique to a local community in the village of Agbatope. Batik is an ancient art form of wax-resist dyeing, applied to whole cloth. This technique has its origins in Java of Indonesia, where it began more than one thousand years ago.
Makafui performed a seminar that lasted for half a day and demonstrated the way to dye clothes and whole cloths, in order to empower the local community and pass on this knowledge.
It was my pleasure and honor to be part of this experience and proud of presenting this mini documentary through my channel.
Thanks for watching!
