Live in the burbs and work in the city (Chicago), and have spent the better part of 2 decades living, working and wandering this city. Every time I’m over by Tribune Tower I go behind the 401 N. Michigan building, between there and NBC Tower, and look at the building view. It’s one of the spots in the city where when you stare up it instantly hits you … wow, this IS Gotham. Then head down the stairs to lower Michigan and you see the seedy underbelly of Gotham, I totally expect to see the Batmobile screaming down lower Wacker, across the bridge while chasing some baddie. There’s 4 or 5 spots like that where you’re just instantly hit by this creepy GOTHAM!!! feeling.

Michael Keaton best captured the essence of Batman. He just didn't look the part that many people wanted. But his acting is second to none. None. I think Christian Bale looked the part but there needed to be some tweaks to the story to make him moodier and more torn. Both of Burton's Batman's are among my fave movies of all time. 89 and this. Michelle Pfeiffer should have won an Oscar for this performance, for real, noone has transformed a character more than she did for this iconic Catwoman. Michael Keaton is the GOAT of all Batman's. Shout out for the set designs, costumes and iconic music. Glad this is starting to get appreciated now, it took Joel Schumacher making a super annoying camp kids Batman, for folks to realize how good this was, Nolan saved the franchise but some of it was a little self-important...but Burton had the right mix with his Batman's. Keaton was majestic and the movies were Fun, dark, thematic, multi-layered, packed with legendary one liners, and way ahead of its time.

You’ve got the right look, hair, and eyes for an old school Batman (TV show) Catwoman. I believe there were two different actresses that played Catwoman back then, and I remember they were both, prrretty much purrrrfect in that role. Movies to watch if you haven’t seen them... 3 more from 1989... The Burbs Dead Calm Uncle Buck 3 more Michael Keaton... Johnny Dangerously Night Shift Pacific Heights 3 more Danny DeVito... L.A. Confidential Throw Mama From The Train Twins 3 more Walken Antz The Dead Zone Puss In Boots (1988) (it’s live action, not animated, and it’s also the most enjoyably fun movie that I recommend, that no one seems to know about. Maybe I’m the only one that likes it.) 3 more Michelle Pfeiffer... Dangerous Liaisons Scarface The Witches Of Eastwick Thanks for making videos eh. P. S. I think the reason Penguin was so irresistibly drawn to Catwoman was... she ate a lot of tuna fish. Mmmm... tuna breath.

I like Tim Burton's style, but I wonder where Johnny Depp is in this one. Probably before their business relationship 😛. What Tim did here was merge Christmas with a gothic Halloween feeling but the Halloween elements aren't obvious. It also works for me because in victorian England Christmas was a time to tell scary stories, like Halloween.

Cant say i owe everything, but definitely shaped my 12 year old self. My parents were super Christians, and for some unknown reason, they let me put up a poster of catwoman (it even had the "hell here" in the background). So my friends from church thought i was the shit. My parents basically let me put a dominatrix michelle Pfeifer on my wall.

3:50 - Selina Kyle is a great example of female empowerment, Ames. The look on Max Shrek's face when she turns up at the office after he thought he killed her says it all!!! 👏👏👏👏

The sets in this really are amazing for the time and just makes me think of Nightmare before christmas , the music is perfect and my fav scene out of the bunch is the Masqurade party scene just having Selina and Bruce wear no masks cause their real selves are Batman and Catwoman. I also like that Shrek was a villian for both Catwoman and Penguin, he manipulated Penguin for the most part till Batman exposed him, and he created Catwoman.

I working at a movie theater when this was out: We got to pre-screen it (as what was typical back when films stlll arrived on 35mm prints), there was a cardboard standee, and a few posters..but the sucky part, like ALL movies, we never got to keep the posters because they were sent on to the next theater, along with the film....4 years, not a single poster! omg. The cardboard standee for Terminator 2 took us like all day to build..

Michelle did swallow a real bird in that scene, Tim Burton confirmed it. The third villain was supposed to be The Riddler played by Robin Williams but it was scrapped because BR was too dark and not family friendly. The Batsuit for the third film was supposed to be the Blue and Grey suit.

I wanted Bruce and Selena to hook up when I first saw this. Like the part where they switched what they said about missletoe can be deadly If you eat it - a kiss can be deadlier if you mean it. That part gets me, everytime even still.

Danny DeVito likes sushi so all the raw fish he ate was real. The black gunk oozing out of his mouth was a form of bile made by the makeup artist Ve Neil, she used mouthwash with red and green food coloring. The film had a lot of animals 20 cats, 42 real penguins (30 African penguins, and 12 king penguins), the Gouldian finch Michelle Pfeiffer put in her mouth, the Red Triangle Gang snake lady’s ball python, the poodle lady’s little poodle, and the organ grinder’s spider monkey.

They just did it right with this one. The casting was perfect. The writing was inspired and seemed tailor-made for the people performing. The visuals, from costumes and props to sets and lighting, seemed to be pulled directly from Tim Burton's brain, which says a lot for the communication and respect that each group responsible had for each other. It's dark, but with just the right mix of humor to keep from feeling too heavy. e: Not only was the "bird in the mouth" shot real, it was done in a single take.
