Just a minor observation. It's likely just that Bruce couldn't imagine what life with them alive would actually be like because of how damaged he actually is and so his paradise dream state can't progress past that night since Bruce himself can't imagine that. Clarke experiences stuff that's Fathomable to him and so that would fit with what I outlined above. Just my own personal head canon interpretation of that.

to the man who has everything by Alan Moore it's a perfect example of hero structure done right by someone who understands the characters. the biggest issue with superheroes is demonstrating their humanity in a way that feels natural and this story delivered by humanizing superman in a way that felt less awful than most "deconstructions" instead of making them edgelords instead he plays with the idea of what they deeply want more then anything and works from there to create tragedy. he truly is one of the greats.

What's worse about this moment is that the BTAS epsiode "Perchance to Dream" showed that Batman's deepest desire was for that night to have never happened: his parents are alive, he's engaged to Selina Kyle, and someone else is Batman. Poor guy's so broken by life at this point that he can't conceive of himself being happy as an adult. I can see why Ra's tackled Bruce's survivor's guilt when training him in "Batman Begins": He knew Bruce wouldn't truly leave Crime Alley until he understood his father was just a man.

It's heartbreaking how his expression slowly realizes the truth as his dream reality starts becoming what truly happened

Honestly this song and clip go so well together. Wonderwoman's voice echoing after calling out to Batman raises my emotions up even more. Fantastic edit for one of the saddest scenes from JLU.

This kind of reminds me of that one episode of _Brave and the Bold,_ where Bruce somehow gets sent back in time and meets his parents at a costume gala or something, and the first thing he does when meeting them is that he hugs his mom. Also, his dad was voiced by Adam West, the first & most iconic actor to portray Batman.

How important was Diana to Brunce in this version of them, that she yelling his name was enough to recover his senses

There's something so intoxicating and how different both versions see it. You can see that a little while after watching Thomas beat the shit out of Joe, Young Bruce's smile turns into a frown alongside Martha. But Present Bruce just smiles, happy to see someone who put him through so much hell finally get what was coming to him.

The saddest part was when he heard the cry from Diana interrupt the genjutsu, history started going back on course when the man pushed Thomas off and we knew what was next. Damn.

Heck yeah! Why not? In one reality, Bruce's dad became Batman! (His mom became the Joker because Bruce ended up getting gunned down, instead; but that's besides the point.)
