I remember seeing her on a weekend magazine programme which is usually quite noisy with lots of quips and laughter. When this lady appeared a hushed silence seemed to fall over the studio and you could see from the presenters' fascinated faces that they knew they were in the presence of a unique personality. Great viewing and lovely lady!

JAY STATION ONE that would be one of the acceptable “Bat people” she refers to. The others would be Barbara Gordon, Robin, or any of Batman’s allies. 😀

Be informed that rabies is essentially eradicated in the U.K. but is still very much prevalent in the Americas. Please don't follow her advice if you live in a country with rabies. Bat bites are too small for us to feel them and many bats carry rabies (30% in the US). Rabies has a 100% fatality rate when left untreated.

Some bats in the UK do carry rabies (specifically European Bat Lyssavirus types 1 & 2), but the risk of being bitten is minimal as long as they are not handled with bare hands (as per the video's advice). Anyone who *is* bitten should see a doctor as soon as possible for post-exposure treatment. While rabies should be taken seriously, it is not a reason to fear bats, and bat rescuers operate in countries where rabies is far more prevalent than in the UK.

@paul austin That's a very misguided and simplistic comment. You can read the facts about bats and COVID-19 here: www.bats.org.uk/about-bats/bats-and-disease/covid-19-and-bats

I'm sorry, I think that was my fault. I used to have your video in an "unintentional ASMR" playlist, and apparently these channels scrape playlists like that & steal the content. I'll keep my playlists private from now on!

Bats do have a really bad reputation of carrying rabies, but that doesn't define them. There is more than a couple reasons you are supposed to carry them covered. I'm not very well educated about rabies, so I don't know how people contract rabies from bats, but it is likely that you won't contract it as long as you keep contact to a minimum, and use the precautions she advised. :3

@@bitchyouthought627 Rabies is transmitted through their saliva. The CDC recommends rabies vaccination for anyone coming into contact with them. They are valuable little mammals, but they're no fun when they invade your attic.
