Another thing to be cautious of is when you are charging your batteries all day to say go cruising that night and you get done charging them and start hitting the switch right away your batteries can get really hot. It’s best to let them cool for a while after charging before using them.

I use the 1072 ...10 amp setting if in a hurry for 4 or 5 hours ...let em cool down for 30 minutes and check them with multimeter..if it's 13 to 13.5 volts it's done if not, plug it another hour or 2 ..also I was told to let batteries rest at least 30 minutes after charge before hitting the switch.. something to do with longevity I suppose..great info in this video, thanks Russell 👍

All accurate facts. You know what you are talking about. I'm old skool too! What current do you run for electrolysis? Does higher current speed up the process or does it level off around a certain amperage?
@LOWRIDERHYDRAULICS
Жыл бұрын
I don’t know all the science behind it but I believe from my experience the bigger the bath and part the more amperage you need. Doing a smaller part on a higher amperage does create more bubbles faster so I assume it is working faster. I still tend to leave it in the bucket overnight no matter what amperage. I tried it on a hood and it took several days because the bath was so big.

I like to keep track of each battery individually, that way if I see one battery taking longer than usual to charge, I can keep an eye on it to see if it has a problem. Appreciate your support!

What do you think about a 48v golfcart charger 🤔
@LOWRIDERHYDRAULICS
2 жыл бұрын
Personally not a fan. I’m not a fan of the chargers that charge 4 battery’s in series. I personally charge my golf cart with 4 independent chargers. I left my golf cart at a friends house that had that type of charger, he charged it overnight, next day it showed fully charged. Drove it for about 10 minutes and it was already almost dead. Come to find out they don’t charge as well as charging independent. Needless to say after that he never used that charger again on his hydraulics.

Depends on use and charging habits. If put on 2-6 amp charge after every use and not let them run dead, they can last 4-6 years probably. Usual replacement is in the 2-4 year range for a street car.

@LOWRIDERHYDRAULICS

The cold and heat will mess with batteries. I’d charge them to full on a slow 2-4 amp charge until full. Charger must have auto shut off when full. Charge them about once a month to make sure they stay pretty full. Other than that, just hit the switch about once every few weeks to make sure the oil stays on all the parts that need to stay oiled. Hope that helps homie.

I don’t suggest it. I don’t charge on anything over 6 amps personally. If you read the manufacture recommendations they advise not to charge over 10 amps. Anything over 10 amps will break down the batteries and reduce the battery life. Personally I charge mine on 4 amps. The chargers I use have a cut off when the battery is full. Slow charging will be a better charge, batteries won’t go dead as fast either.

That’s a hard one to answer. Once you’ve had your setup for a little while you can tell when they need to be charged. As a general rule I charge once a week if it’s a daily driver. Personally I would throw them on the charge every time I parked it out of habit. The chargers I use shut off when the battery is full and slow chargers on 4 amps. This habit made it so I am always ready to ride.

How long can deep cycles sit without being charged?
@LOWRIDERHYDRAULICS
2 жыл бұрын
Depends, if you are asking how long do batteries last on a setup before needing to be charged, that would depend on how often you use your switches. If you use them conservatively then you could go weeks before having to charge but if you use them often, you’ll need to charge them about once a week. I just get into a habit of putting them on a 4 amp trickle charge after each use so they are always ready to go. If you mean how often does an unused deep cycle batter last on a single charge, few months. I have a bunch of brand new batteries in my shop I charge about once a month just to be sure they are full.

Hard to say for sure. Could be damaged batteries. I would take them and have them load tested and if they have any kind of warranty, replace them. If no warranty, try charging them on a slow charge like 2 amps for several days and see if it improves. My guess is the batteries are damaged or over charged. May be time to replace them.
