At 12 years old in 1972, I remember going to Battersea Fun Fair and being on the Roller Coaster 3 weeks before the tragic accident that killed five children. 😢

I worked at weekend and the summer holidays in the candy floss kiosk when I was 13 there wasn't any health and safety rules then we used to make boiling hot toffee but we loved it and was a great part of my youth I'm 72 now but still remember it with such affection

bobbysimmo Same here! I lived in Battersea up to late 1976 and loved this place. Early style theme park-ish look for the period. Never rode the ill-fated Big Dipper which I’m sure my late Mum used to say was unsafe. Interesting to note operators standing up on the Flying Saucer back then. Was a magical place back then.

The first two fair ground attractions I ever went on was at Battersea park , the Helter Skelter , on the Coconut (ouch yer bum) mats with my Dad , then onto the Dive Bomber with him . About half hour later , the roller Coaster slipped off the rail and stopped at the top of the ride with my cousin on it and the workers had to go up and walk her and everyone down , while my Aunt had a melt down 😅

I remember the Battersea Pk. funfair as a kid in the early 60s.I returned about 1980 and was surprised the funfair had gone....Somebody walking by told me it had closed in 1974, I believe.Such a shame and such a big loss.

I thought that the Tree Walk was a great idea. I suppose that H&E would insist it was in a rubber lined concrete tunnel, if it was re installed? There is something about the Pagoda that jars!
