Love the videos and courage! I have a 2011 C-zero, great little cars. You give out a lot of good advice so I'd like to give a bit back if it would help. Maybe you've solved this already but if your car constantly gets misty you can use dry packs to keep it dry inside. I made my own to custom fit the dashboard and it works great. Let me know if you want more info or pictures, it's quite easy. Thanks again for the videos

The couple times you pointed the camera at wifey she didn't look over flowing with enthusiasm. I can't say as I blame her, I was nervous just watching the video. My Leaf has a little over 60,000 on it, but the battery was replaced via warranty at 50,000 so I'm looking good for quite a while. If I'd have paid for it the price of a new pack with $1000 credit off for the old pack would be about $5,500. Why was yours so expensive I wonder? I've come to the same conclusion as you about electric cars. Stay in town - that's their element. Even with no unforeseen events, the frequent charging stops turns a 4-hour drive into a 7-hour drive real quick. I guess when you flirt on the cutting edge of any technology you have to make some sacrifices. You are one brave soul - and wifey too.

Your videos are very educational and amusing. I can't wait for the next one to arrive. Yes, get much closer to the diesel fumes of the truck, in order to enjoy the sub pressure and turbulence of the truck in front of you. I personally prefer a healthier life and let the truck surf behind me. ;-)

Maybe you could use a thermometric module in front of heater exhaust to put some charge back to battery, or divert heat from exhaust through battery compartment so range is better with warm instead of frozen battery's. ?

Interesting fact about your car´s battery condition. A bit over 60000 km and 5.5 years, you are down from 100% to 68.8% of battery "life". Very useful information, as I´m currently monitoring these vehicles from central Europe, where there´s quite a few of which to choose. Planning to keep my Phev Prius for a while still, this will not be an easy deal and might never happen. Anyway, thanks for the quality video, as usual !

Better still: have the cells replaced for around 5000 EUR by a company that does that, or maybe put a bigger battery in it, there usually is some more space to cram a few more kWh in it. Yes, one second behind a lorry = roughly 40% reduction in Wh/mile, maybe more with a small car like this that fits better inside the bubble of stale air.

In 2013 i tried to buy the local dealer's iMiev runabout. 1 year old for £12,500. Was very happy with the price, but my wife would not buy without knowing how much for a new battery. When we found out it was £8,000 she said no way. It's a real shame because it's clear now that we would have no trouble with it, but at the time no-one could tell us how long they would last. Currently leasing a Zoe at the moment.

That sucks since you only get an hour and a bit more for actual skiing (I would be disappointed) but since you made in with this car that is amazing itself. Probably the reason why despite the i-Miev being sold in Canada for ~3 years already...and I only really saw 1 outside driving on the streets; our DC Fast charging infrastructure is even worse than Slovakia!
@evtrekker1317

+Trades46 don't you at least have level 1 outlets in parking lots, like at a ski resort? I can tell you there is absolutely 0 dedicated charging in Alaska. Even car dealers keep theirs inside the showroom. But I do rely on our parking lot outlets used for peoples ICE car headbolt heaters.

Hi Gav, thank you for your videos, its really helpfull and fun to watch! My question is what exact type of OBD reader do you use for your iOn? I'm considering buying iOn (or iMiev/czero) one day and the reader + app might be key tool for determining the battery health before I buy the car. Thanks again an keep making videos. Best regards from Brno!

You mentioned the low of battery range possibly due to cold temps. You forget that your diesel heater has a fan and an ignition pilot which uses electric and although it may not draw as much as the cars factory heater it does draw power. Bottom line the EV is VERY inconvenient at best.

1:55 That is simmilar to my experience. I wanted to buy a Smart electric drive from Germany. With 3000km it would cost me just bellow 10k Euro. BUT, without battery. If you are a German or from somewhere else where the car was officialy sold, you could have a 67 Euro/month leasing on the battery. Otherwise 4700 Euro additional cost will apply for the whole car. So 14700 Euro for the smart electric shopping cart. :-(

Hi there! You could install it behind the radiator, but there is the high risk of problems because of rain. I read that one person installed it behind the radiator and the rain destroyed the heater.
