GM1 is 12mp and uses pixel sub division to take 48mp photo (so it's essential software upscaling, done in hardware). Imx586 true 48mp, uses pixel binning to effectively combine 4 pixels into 1, for 12mp photos. (Hardware for the win😉). Shows what real hardware does up against software scaling. 😅 P.s. got the info from Honor's CEO in interview. 😁

I think this comparison is not fair because:- 1. They both are 2 different phones from 2 different brands. 2. They belong to different categories ( V15 Pro is a Midrange phone while View 20 is a Flagship Phone). 3. The camera implementation is different V15 Pro has 48MP Main Camera + 8MP Wide Angle + 5MP Depth Sensor while View 20 has 48MP Main Camera and a TOF sensor. 3. The V15 Pro starts @ Rs. 29,000 and View 20 @ Rs. 38,000 4. The software is different V15 Pro has Funtouch OS over Android while View 20 has EMUI on Android. 5. Both uses different chipsets V15 Pro has Snapdragon 675 which is a Midrange processor while View 20 has Kirin 980 which is a Flagship processor. All this actually makes a huge difference.

You're just like a Sony fanboy. Instead of stating the truth you went a long, winding way to acknowledge GM1. The last camera of Vivo in low light condition trumps the Sony IMX in term of details, dynamic range, color accuracy and noise level. On daylight IMX wins by a mile long. Overall for those who want good camera for public media consumption, you can't go wrong with both sensors (not phone), but if you like to zoom your way out in daylight time, go for IMX and if you prefer to have an advantage in the low light go for GM1. Simple recommendation.

.. @4:08 .. You are incorrect. The focal plane is slightly off on the Samsung sensor. Look at the green leaf behind the glove which is in sharp focus. The leaf is a tad out of focus.. Now look at the leaf in the right end of the frame at the time stamp on the Sony sensor, doesn't it look soft? It's an issue with focussing. :-)

If you really want to compare the Sensors, shoot raw. I'd say the Huawei phones are generally better in processing images due to software optimization than the vivo ones (can't prove that, just a feeling). What i do know: If you take Raw pictures, you'd be surprised by the dynamic range, 2nd you'd be surprised how crappy the photos actually, look without a software editing them first. Noise everywhere :) I hate that hdr+ and stuff in comparisons, cause it is purely software... nice to have, but for a sensor comparison a little unfair... #GooglePixel
