Nice logic. "It'll only be one lane... if you ignore the second lane, cause it doesn't count if we have to slow down or stop because we have to share it with a bus." Americans have become so entitled with the use of cars. Have you stopped to think that maybe the reason that you're constantly trying to dedicate more and more space for cars (another lane, more parking, etc.) is because you're putting all your eggs into one basket? Diversify. Create more and more ways to get around. If you put in bike lanes, you'll get some commuters that will switch to biking, but you'll probably alleviate a lot of local traffic that will take the bike to the store or out to eat or to the zoo instead of getting in their car to drive a mile down the road. And some of them might get rid of their car and making parking easier in the area. But as long as we keep doubling down on the least efficient form of transportation, we're going to keep running out of space and having to "add another lane". It's never going to be enough. The more you invite people to drive, combined with a lack of diverse transit options, you're just going to get more and more crowded roads.

No more bike lanes. It will provide less parking 🅿️ and people ride on the sideway anyway!

If you make good bike lanes that are separated from car traffic, then people won't resort to riding on the sidewalk. And pedestrians shouldn't have to worry about cyclists. Heaven forbid cars don't have as much public space allotted to them so they can just sit there parked. The horror!

@@Scotter4536 I work downtown DC, I have a car , but I commute to work which I actually love my commute. I save money and my commute is not bad. But my complaint is scooters, bikes, and people on mopeds on sidewalks when they have bike lanes. It sucks

@@bigdeneen I ride downtown all the time and never see bikes on the sidewalk when there's a safe bike lane present. If you're talking about a "painted line", well, those aren't safe. Believe me, nobody wants to ride a bike on a sidewalk when they have a separated bike lane available. Dodging pedestrians isn't fun or efficient. But until there are safe options, I don't blame cyclists for riding on the sidewalk. And your issue is also with police enforcement. Riding on the sidewalk is legal in most of DC except for downtown.
