Welcome aboard, TJ! (Also, sorry for the late reply. For some reason, your comment got stuck in the "Held for Review" neverland, held hostage by the KZitem guards until your release this afternoon...) I'm glad you like the banter between Brad and me. Truth be told, that's us in real life! Always a good time with us, at least we think so. LOL Hope to see you around!

Biggest gripe with original was players rushed to OC over and over and caused game to end earlier than other players wanted. Argentina made it even worse. New Zealand fixed it. New Zealand is the only one we need to own. We own all three but it truly added everything and elevated it.

New Zeeland is so good I agree with you. Our group does not seem to rush the game. I tried once when I thought I was a head of Toph but ended up loosing. I could see it if everyone did that though.

Great Job ! As a heavy boardgame developer, I love games with strategic variability via interesting interwoven mechanics. The base game will always have a place in my heart, as I helped acquire it for Stronghold Games. Thanks for doing this.

Kind of surprised about the dissent on Rails to the North. I thought the base game was way too limiting with deliveries and Rails to the North just gives you more options so you don't just get screwed over by having to deliver to the same place again. I guess I am the odd one out that never wants to play the base game by itself. Won by 30 points in the last four player game we played. I have not played Argentina or New Zealand yet.

I passed on Argentina but considering picking up New Zealand especially as I don't have Rails to the North. After watching this video, definitely will be picking up the game. Your other video of New Zealand was excellent and started the push to getting it. Take care

First time I see your content and I don't know what to think about this whole analysis because I LOVE Great Western Trail with Rails to the North and would always play with it if possible (no new players). I think Rails to the North rounds the base game in such a great way. It "balances" the game more and gives you more interesting choices. With that said, I just can't blindly trust in your judgement about the other two which I'm yet to play 😵. Either way, thanks a lot for this video and keep the sound effects coming XD.

I can only keep one because I already have a lot of games and I wont have time to play all 3 GWTs, so I decided to keep GWT 2nd edition and I will be buying Rails to the North someday as it seems to connect more with me and my wife. I usually prefer specialization over sandbox/lot of different paths and GWT 2nd edition also seems to be a little more interactive because of the buildings, taxes, paths etc. I also don't like the idea of joker tiles for workers as I enjoy the competition for them. There are some other changes like this that makes me think it's gonna be a little more solitaire and very sandboxy, not my style. All 3 seems to be amazing games, but 2nd edition is my cup of tea and the fact it's faster, more streamlined makes me think it's gonna hit the table more often for me.

Feel free to hate on me but the fact that your BGG ratings differ from the games you actually want to play hints at weight snobbery to me. It’s obvs you both love the last one the best so just rate it the highest! That said, this is a useful vid. I don’t have any of these games, have never played them. But for whatever reason I have watched you guys talk about them for about four hours. I think I know I won’t enjoy Argentina. I’m tempted by the first game but by Brad’s facial expressions when talking about the train I infer that the New Zealand game is the most elegant. Elegance is a big factor for me in games, maybe the main factor - so I reckon I’ll go for that. I’m interested to know which iteration brad’s wife, the one that wears Victorian clothes, likes best?

No I feel the mechanics blend so well together and there seems to actually be more ways to win. 2nd edition really feels like a cow driven VP game and harder to win with other strata. I like the separation of the worker costs vs the bonus costs. Just a cleaner game almost would use the word elegant.

Try GWT second ed on BGA if you have it. Argentina would only be if you are wanting a heavier 4.0 weight euro. No one needs all three we have become fan boys. Hopefully you will enjoy NZ as we do.

Great video as always!! Sadly none of these 3 are available in my country (Argentina), so when I went to the us last month I bought the Argentina version. Hope I’ve done a good choice. It’s the hardest of the 3, but I also know that I won’t be able to buy any of the others 2 version for a while.. and I was afraid that the 2nd ed or nz would seem too easy for me, and that would leave me with the need of more. If I’ve seen this video before I probably would buy the Nz. Anyways It's no use crying over spilt milk 😂

The great thing about Argentina is it leans into the race and the feeling of the race. Those ships are going, going, gone so speedy delivery is the focus (which is really the focus of all of them, its just more apparent). I literally don’t get the massive change in opinion for Rails to the North. Just because a new iteration of a game comes along and implements things differently should not be an indicator in such a massive drop off. Preference to play one over the other? Sure. But such denigration? Odd
