During my 10 days stay in Sundarbans I heard from locals that Tigers of this forest don’t mark territories, and roam in the entire forest unlike tigers in other places of India/Asia. The reason being - frequent high/low tides wash off the spray and markings ... and that’s why it is very rare to sight a tiger in Sundarbans ...

I am in Sundarbans right now. Didn't spot a tiger today but man, the voyage! The remotest of creeks that don't even show up on map- don't go there unless you have permission as well as an expert of a guide on boat. We experienced some of the best hours of our life today on our way back from Netidhopani to Dobanki via a narrow channel where no tourist boats could go. I wanted to cry but needed my eyes not blurry in case of a tiger sighting. Sundarban- named absolutely perfectly!

Tigers survive in a wide range of environment from reezing cold region of Siberia to hot , humid tropical regions of South Asia including mangrove swamps of Bangladesh and India. Lions survive only in the open Savannah regions of Africa. Lmao you wouldn't want to cross the border through the Sunderbans. Most refugees cross in a group with women and children. Going through the jungle and the swamps on foot is a death sentence. Going across on small boats (to not be spotted) = crocodile food. The chances of survival are much higher on the north-west border, albeit patrolled heavily by military.
