The only thing that as ever pleased me about Dimbleby was the look on his face as the result of the referendum came in pure gold.

@Daniel Oliver As in can't get a Covid vaccine? 😂 What a misery you are, so blinded by prejudice that you want things to go wrong! Check out the growth figures for the UK and compare them to the sclerotic EU. UK signing trade deals and, weirdly, the sky hasn't fallen in quite yet. Anyway, happy Independence Day! Enjoy Brexit today, and every day. For the rest of your life. 👍

Britain accidentally leaving the EU because Cameron started a referendum he was sure would end with the UK remaining in the EU, and remain voters not voting in enough numbers because they were sure to win, so that a minority, of mostly older people, decided Britain should leave. Yeah, wonderful.

We did not vote to join the EU in 1975. Dimbleby never was much of a journalist. We voted to remain in the Common Market in 1975, after joining it earlier, without a referendum. The people of Britain NEVER voted to join anything.

I voted to remain in 1975 as back then, there were about six member states. We were told it was no more than a trading block to allow business to be carried out easier. Since then it's mutated into 27 members with no internal borders, it's own currency, laws, rules and regulations. It's developing its own foreign policies, and there's even been talk of its own army. None of this were we, and most other countries consulted on. And let's not forget who actually pulls the EU strings, here's a clue: they make BMW's.
