@Donny Podcast Yes, because I can say "I am". To say "I am" shows there is a presence there. "Jamie" is just basically a story, a character maybe sounds better. Persona translated in Latin means mask. The personality is just conditioned upon us but we take on thst personality and believe it is who we are.

@Donnell Okafor that's true. We live in a throwaway society where natural affection no longer exists between people. It's all selfish and a "what can I get out of this?" mentality. Once marriages start showing cracks, it ends in divorce. Back in the day, like you said, people worked at their marriage and many of the older generation who went through the war years, were married for 40-50-60 years. That won't ever happen again in future generations.

I don't agree what the vicar said about "forgetting keeps you on the straight and narrow". I have CPTSD, and I have forgiven what my abusers have done to me, but I haven't forgotten what they did. Not forgetting the abuse, for me, has meant I've wanted more for myself and healed myself. I know many people who are the same as me. I have also had to remind others that forgiving someone doesn't mean being pally pally with them again, it can mean you aren't living with the constant pain, guilt and fear day in and day out. Forgiveness also means walking away from that person because forgiving them means you can forgive yourself for any hurt you are carrying ❤

Interesting I went through the young offenders system in the 80s through strangeways at it’s worst.Remember going through reception at strangeways and a screw was singing don’t laugh at me I laughed and he slapped me off my feet I was 17 years of age about 8 stone.Every man for himself in that world I didn’t understand the stupid choices I made as a teenager would impact the rest of my life.Nearly 60 now my advice if your Young struggling seek help there is always a alternative to criminal behaviour.Once you have a record the real punishment begins after your sentence especially in the workplace people don’t always forgive or forget easily and you can find yourself rejected pushed out.Heard a screw say cons are always bitchin about their rights don’t give a shit about anyone else’s rights in some cases that’s true there are two sides two perspectives to prison life.Life is to short to put yourself at the bottom of the pecking order ultimately we have to accept the consequences of our choices SO WISE UP.

I had similar experiences and am of a similar age to you. However, I went on to spend may years working with young offenders and found the work challenging and rewarding. One problem now is that young people believe that once they reach 18 any criminal record they have is wiped clean and of course it never is. Drugs are a much bigger problem now and the nonsense they believe that criminals never grass. Every criminal I knew would spill the beans when the time comes. The best way out of it is work and education but you need support for both of them and it's not always there. I always told kids 'Your history is not your destiny'.

I was in Parva then. In 2000 I was in unit 11. I got out and was back in there early 2001 and it was like a different prison. They put my on unit 15 where they had a tv in the cell. The difference the tv made was unreal. It almost stopped fighting all together. The only fight I see was when my pad mate got battered. He was getting burn off people telling them he had a parcel waiting to come out but it never happened. I had a load of lads approach me saying that they think I’m sound but your pad mate had taken the piss and make sure your not in here at socc. I went and had the longest shower of my life. Came back to the pad and there was blood everywhere and I never saw my pad mate again.
