What exactly is ASCII code? People often erroneously refer to (as in this video) the hexadecimal representation of ASCII character, as 'ASCII' or 'ASCII code' Infact all ASCII characters are assigned with specific distinct numerical values. And then this numerical value is (i) stored as a binary number in the memory (ii) It is displayed as a Hexadecimal No. or (iii) as a decimal No. as required, suiting to the need. The ASCII characters along with their above three forms of representation together are referred to as ASCII coding. And not just Hexadecimal representation alone.
