I Like the Nitrogen Steels,Bit Pricey But Corrosion Resistance is Top Notch,Especially Plants and Fruits with High Acidity/Tannins. I Ate the Edge Badly Within 10mins Stripping Thistles for Our Horses Using CPM-3V!!! Electrolytic Reaction!!! It was the quickest Corrosion ive ever seen and Only on the Blade Edge!

Surely you can abuse a knife better than that :) Kidding aside, very impressive. Tough stuff.

Thanks. With BCMW HT - vanax 61rc is probably no more than 10% higher toughness than steels with similar carbide volume%. e.g. S30V, S35VN 61rc

There are certainly a range of other steels whose edge held up better to similar testing. However its the corrosion resistance that's being talked about a lot. How have you found the corrosion resistance to be?

Stainless 61rc at 15dps against 16d nail is bad for any steel, vanax isn't the best but above average for steels with similar carbide volume%. Vanax retains 0.7-2um apex width very well against corrosion environments (salt, citric-acid, hard water, sweat,etc..). Sub 500nm apex with seems to degrade to stable ~700nm in 24+hrs. Exposed to FeCl, surprised with apex remain under 1um width. 30 minutes exposed to nital/etchant 5%, apex widen to around 1.5-3um, this is much better than average 4+um for other steels. Now, I need to raise vanax to working 63rc, then it would be my 1st choice for salt water knife and 4th for general purpose stainless knife.
