Ranked clips and running practice queue with friends, Musa/Tamer/Shai OP! xD
Map pool looking highly favorable to Tamer with all the Cloud Ride slopes in Jade and Manshaums, already favorable ruins, and even Oluns because it's a bowl shaped so from the edges and up the stairs is good. Downhill Tamer OP!
Despite bugs, falling through the map, crashing... AoS is my favorite thing to do in game and Meiimo and Tim in NA/EU among other regions like KR are proving that it is DOABLE to top 10-20 overall on Awakened Tamer!
I dream of being up there too, so as motivation to improve I'm planning a mechanics-focused guide series. I'll present data/analysis on damage of different combos, and relative damage in trade versus other classes key skills, with commentary from my own play and maybe VOD review of other better Tamers if they're cool with that.
For the initial "all the things" guide then follow-up series on improving with Tamer, what I plan to cover is:
1. How exactly to do all the inputs to use all the skills in all the ways, with an extended keyboard layout display not just the in game one, e.g.
• [BDO][Tamer] Safe Star...
2. What I put on what hotkeys and why, what to lock and why, and some ideas for CD slot layouts. I try out different ones all the time because I'm always trying to hit a sweet spot naturally scanning the fight and absorbing which cooldowns are ready/about to be ready at the same time, and putting "sequences" or "categories" close together so I can look less and know more.
3. Combos with the actual calculated damage of each, options based on which CC was landed, and whether that was yours or your teammate. We're going to make a whole decision tree, and try to have some niche cases like "all my stuff is on cooldown from trades", evasion shredding combos, and fancy stuff just for the sake of being fancy like using stretch kick from whiplash LOL xD
4. Movement, movement, MOVEMENT... so important on Tamer. I barely know anything else, but I get away with it to a degree because I am alright at moving my tamer around. This is the general glue of your tamer play, because your advantage is grab and your grab can be used out of any movement skill... therefore the better you move, the better you grab, the better you Tamer. About Meiimo, other players feel just his presence means they are at risk of being grabbed and 1-combo'd if they don't have a peel - be like Meiimo, and like a boxer know your grab distances exactly.
5. How to fight EVERY. SINGLE. CLASS. This one is basically for me, because I don't know how to fight any class at all right now. Pretty much everything I know is organically absorbed from fighting a lot. As this is my biggest blind spot that I have been avoiding because I'm starting from scratch, hopefully I'm in a unique position to really cover things from the perspective of a beginner and someone who just doesn't know the basics yet. I hope this will help you as much as I know for a fact it'll help me. I leveled all my alts to 60 or 61 to prep for this, so we're gonna dive deep and try to use footage from the Tamer and enemy perspective. Maybe some ppl would even be willing to collab - but for now, check out these dope interviews in Quendya's "Class Master Interviews" series!!!
• BDO - Class Interviews...
I'm not the best Tamer to be doing a guide, but I do feel like what I can offer is the perspective of somebody who's only been PvPing seriously for a little while, and therefore has enormous gaps in their game knowledge that feel really hard to fill from the ground up. I've just never had an appetite to learn the BA way despite how efficient it clearly is, dueling other classes and playing other classes until that "aha I get it now" moment hits me. I'm also not a grizzled veteran of the NW or Siege scene. So basically, I can start from the absolute ground up in a real way because I'll be learning in real-time as I do this series what's required to excel in PvP.
Taking advice from more experienced Tamers/players is key, but it can also be hard because they're about 5 steps ahead and sometimes deliver knowledge as if we're only 2 steps behind if that makes sense. Sometimes, they might just feel like they shouldn't have to hold our hands and we should just "do the thing" - which is completely fair. So value anything you hear from Tamers like Meiimo, Tim, Yoshi, all the folks in the Tamer discord - don't be so quick to dismiss a position, there might be more left unsaid than you realize and you kinda have to just sit with it until you understand what the quiet part was.
