Be'lakor is one of the best melodeath bands around today. They have such beautiful lyrics and song structure. Incredible stuff. I recommend their song "In Parting". That song always gives me chills. Definitely have the lyrics up when you listen. Melodeath is the best. You definitely should do more of it. :)

WOW! Usually don't listen to music that have this kind of vocal style, but everything came together in this track! The instrumentals are spot on, there are great dynamics and it builds up, then delivers, calms down again and delivers yet again! Great track!

if i had to guess it'd be a concept album about someones journey through war? Just based of this song alone, could be miles out
@damianocampo4302

The whole album is actually based around the idea of everything taking energy and giving it back. It follows first a light that comes to earth and a plant that absorbs it. Then a swarm of insects that eat the plant and a pack of animals that trample the insects and so forth. This song is describing a primitive man drinking from a stream that an animal had previously died in. He then gets sick and others from his village get scared and think it will spread so they burn him. The whole album is amazingly intricate. One of the best ive heard in a long time.

Be'Lakor are really amazing and unique in their style - their lyrics and the way they're presented set them apart from many a melodeath band. While I'm still kind of stuck to the catchyness of the 2012 precursor "Of Breath and Bones" I really start to move more towards the more atmospheric and varied sound of "Vessels". I haven't yet really come across many bands with a similar focus on story telling to that kind of atmospheric melodeath. Some songs by Amon Amarth might go in a similar direction like "Töck's Taunt" or "The Last Stand of Frej" from the album "Surtur Rising" or maybe "...And Soon The World Will Cease To Be" from "Versus the World". The early albums of Týr have a kind of similar vibe, despite the clean vocals (slower, yet heavy and complex musicality and focus on the lyrics/story telling) i.e. "Brothers Bane" from "Ragnarok" or basically the whole album "How far to Asgaard".

Good choice..for me Smoke of Many Fires was the metal song of 2016. If you'd like to try something from the same genre, the same cinematic feeling, go for Insomnium. Try Twilight Trails or Pale Morning Star from the last album, Heart Like a Grave. The album was chosen best melodeath album of the year on Metalstorm. You won't be disappointed :-)
