I am in high school, and I play 6 instruments as of right now. I play the drums, saxophone, bass clarinet, ukulele, guitar, and trumpet. I used to play the drums in the school back when I was in elementary school, and I began to take drum lessons when I was going into middle school. I learned how to play the saxophone in 6th grade because I wanted to learn a second instrument. The drums and saxophone are my primary instruments. I used to play the bass clarinet in 7th grade because I had a friend who used to play that instrument which was really cool. The bass clarinet was my first instrument that I played at a graduation and in a marching band parade. I have played at a lot of different events like concerts, football games, competitions, graduations, and band tours. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t have more performances because I am still in school and I have a long music experience coming ahead in my life.

Hello! Hopefully someone sees this... 😅 Anyways, I was still thinking about which instrument I should play. I have been torn about what instrument to play FOREVER. Every time I think I’ve got my choice, I change my mind! I think it would be super cool to play the tenor drums, but I have never played drums before. Also, I am going to be going into my first year of band next year at a new high school. I’m afraid they’ll think I’m joking if I say I want to, for my first year of band, play tenor drums. 😅 I understand that it’s a really hard to play instrument... Plus, I’m a girl, and only weigh a bit over 100lbs. I think the drums would be a bit heavy for me :( Do you think I could do it, or should choose a different instrument?

7:55 first of all euphoniums don't only read on bass clef. My sister who plays euphonium learn bass a clef a year after she started playing. Second a euphonium is not also a called a baritone!!! a baritone is a completly different interment. It is similar to the euphonium but not at all the same insterment! a euphonium is much larger. just google the difference if you dont believe me. I find it pretty ridiculous that this 'educational' video can't get basic facts right. Also flutes and clarinets can't usually be played it jazz either so i dont understand why the say that they are jazz interments since they are not!!
@ms.coueysband2610

From a band director's perspective, TC (treble clef) baritone exists in my realm to ease a student from trumpet to baritone after they have already started learning to read treble clef. They can transition the same fingerings from trumpet over to baritone. It is less stress on the student in those first weeks or maybe 2 months. So while you are right that it exists, it is not preferred in a concert band/school band setting. Band directors generally give a window for that student to move on to bass clef And there is no guarantee in the library that every selection will have TC parts available. I may have to replace them when the situation arrises. They are usually first lost parts like bari sax and percussion I (snare/bass). Historically you may find brass bands elsewhere in the world that all members would play treble clef, or at least the baritone or euphonium would join the high brass. Also as a band director, I'll be frank- those words are used interchangeably all over the state I live in. From one school to the next it may differ in what the director teaches. Do they own all of one or the other? Chances are it's a smattering of horns from the past 40 years and different band directors' choices in purchasing. My school owns both types. When I sign my students up for Solo and Ensemble for example, they are all registered as euphonium. But if we're talking shop about marching band, we're talking baritone and that may bleed over into concert season. So understand that in the concert band world it is like short hand, abbreviation, whether you agree or not. So what you call "facts" are not as black and white as you'd like to believe the world of music to be. As a professional player, yes flutes and clarinets are a part of jazz. There are many famous players such as Eric Dolphy and Benny Goodman. Maybe you mean to say that someone is not primarily a flute player. They double or triple on different horns. That is a, I'll say it this way, a naive statement about the history of jazz.
