Thanks for sharing! Im amazed to see that the Gentle Typhoon gt2150 is not included in the benchmarks... I have tested it in hybrid case type (2 front intake and 1 back exhaust, removed the heatsink fan), on a ThermalRight SI-100 heatsink and on a ThermalRight Frozen Prism 240mm, against the a12x25, t30, p12max, and silent wings pro 4... At full speed the T30, swpro4 and p12max where only 3 degrees ahead, the a12x25 was 3 degrees behind; when I did the 39db (1,750rpm at 24 inches away) tests, it was tied with the T30 and Pro 4, but both a12x25 and p12max were 4 degrees behind. Im willing to provide 1 or 2 samples for your tests.

Thanks for the review. I was looking forward reviews of these fans. While the db readings may say otherwise, I have the NF-A12X25 c.b. as well as T30 fans and the Noctuas sound quieter at every rpm and have extremely similar performance, at least in my experience. Both pump tons of air out, but my T30 fans always seem to have an annoying resonance that starts at a pretty low RPM, and the motor noise is significantly louder. I Louder than my Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 high speed fans too, however the T30 whoops the SW3HS fans when it comes to fan blade noise. Speaking of that resonance, I even ran one fan on my 240mm radiator to the chassis fan header to try to run at different rpms to try to get rid of this. Also, I found there to be very little real life benefit to 2,000+ rpm speeds the T30 has become it is just too loud, plus the temperature reduction is very little, so that might have made me a little less stoked about these being 3,000rpm capable. The last thing about the NF-A12X25 fans is that they seemed to keep my 300w 3070ti cooler in my sandwich layout ITX gaming PC vs the T30 fans with similar fan curves. Maybe I'm just tripping but my Heaven benchmarks showed 73c vs 77c GPU max with Noctua vs Phanteks. The T30s kept the CPU a little cooler, but it's like 58c vs 63c, it doesn't really matter.

In terms of noise alone, noctua vs T30? which do you prefer? I am thinking of getting T30 because you can daisy chain them. Is the difference in noise significant?
@Dreamweaver94
2 жыл бұрын
@@peteratangajunior1094 The Noctua NF-A12X25 c.b. is, at least to me and in my experience, significantly quieter and better sounding than the T30. The db readings may be similar, I don't know, but the T30s become noticeably audible at a much lower RPM. 1,500rpm on the Noctua is nothing, you can only hear it in a quiet room at a quiet hour, vs the T30 is easily noticeable at the same speed. Plus, the T30 has a really annoying back and forth sounding resonance that I could never get rid of. Let's put it this way: whatever difference the T30 fans have on thermals over the Noctua NF-A12X25 isn't nearly as noticeable in reality to me as the noise the two make. As for the daisy chain, it's a nice feature but I wouldn't buy the T30s just for that, you can buy a fan splitter (Noctua makes really nice ones) or use an empty fan header.

@@peteratangajunior1094 You're welcome! I feel you about noise, well, maybe not that much, but I do appreciate some quiet fans and the Noctua NF-A12X25 are definitely as quiet as they come, and worthy of their reputation. That being said, it's sounding like these new Be Quiet fans are a legit rival. Of course, almost all the reviews say the T30 is quieter than the NF-A12X25s and I'd definitely say that's not the case, so who knows.

@@peteratangajunior1094 Ive run plenty of tests between them. No, the T30 aren't more noisy in terms of db. The a12x25 at 2k rpm reach the same db as the t30 do at around 1700 rpm. That might make you think that the a12 are better, BUT the fact is the t30 at 1700 rpm move more air than the a12 at 2000. Though, besides measuring the same in terms of db, from my own personal experience the a12 are less annoying. So at the same noise level, the a12 sound less annoying. They are both pretty quiet fan though

First of all: great channel, great work, subscription more than deserved. What I unfortunately miss in every SW Pro 4 review is the hint that the 120 version is unsuitable for a silent build because of the high minimum speed of 600 RPM. This is an IMPORTANT hint. I wanted to replace the old Noiseblocker on the Mora with 9 of these and sent them straight back. Much too loud at minimum RPM. Now have P12 for a sixth of the price. Less pretty, but they also run at 400RPM, don't cool noticeably worse and are much cheaper.

It's a bit wired. Why sw4 140mm fan perform worse than 120mm in the case benchmark?
@STSYT
2 жыл бұрын
This can have hundreds of reasons. Let's start with the 120mm spinning at 3000RPM and the 140mm at "just" 2700RPM. The 120mm version pushes the air at 5.31mm/H20 while the 140 can "only" do 3.64mm/H2O. Bust mostly this must be due to how you benchmark fans. You need to keep in mind that nomatter what fan, it will always depend on how well the "hardware" that you are trying to cool can even take advantage of the cooling. Let's say you wanna measure the heatsink performance. You take a 120mm capable heatsink. And as soon as you mount a 140mm fan to it to compare you have a bunch of wasted fan hanging outside of the cooler. If you take a 140mm heatsink and mount a 120mm fan to it you have the same thing just reversed. The same goes for radiators. The "best" way that we found is described here: How we benchmark Fans kzitem.info/news/bejne/0JB-1GmLm3mjf5g We basically do a hybrid thing where there is no fan on a heatsink and 2x fans in the front and one in the back. That way both the 120s and 140s have equal chances without the "advantage" of a 140mm being outside of a heatsink or a 120 not reaching every corner. However, what you can then see is that some fans are so strong that they just force the air through the heatsink without physically being attached to it. Which is probably also the reason that the 120 PRO won by 1°C.
@jarviszhang5021

AMD motherboards force the fans to run at 100% on boot no matter the PWM settings. That's a pretty good reason to have an rpm limiter on a 3000 rpm fan, unless you want to wake up everyone in the house when your computer starts.
