Jane, you are that light for me. Like you I always wanted to paint but never knew quite how to begin.... You’ve given me the skills, and more importantly, the courage to take that leap. I started a year ago, and now, thanks to some very supportive friends, I’m teaching others what I’ve learned from you. I cannot thank you enough. I tell everyone... you are my hero.

Jane, thank you so much for sharing your story on how you began to paint. It was so inspirational for me. I discovered I like art late in life after a friend dragged me along to a local paint party class. I came home and bought paint the next day and a canvas and went in search of videos. That was 5 months ago. I remember one of the first videos of yours I found, was a Halloween one, and I was so new to painting that music or noise distracted me. I remember I wrote a comment to you about not liking the music. I was to serious and a grumpy painter because I got frustrated easily. Until I watched more of your videos and learned to do it for fun and for myself no one else. I came back to it months later and have found I now like it. I have more of an understanding how music can fit the mood of the painting. I have painted more of your paintings than anyone I have watched. Your teaching method is so well thought out in my opinion, because you answer the questions I am always thinking to myself no matter how small, but need to know. And I love how you edit and write comments it makes me laugh. I really appreciate and am thankful to how dedicated you are to making these videos. I discovered Cinnamon's videos shortly after I discovered yours and have been watching you both. I was very excited to find this collaboration you did. It has been 2 years since you made this video and today it is March of 2018. I see you have so much art and your own art gallery now? I would love to know more of your story in another video! When did you decide to open a gallery? How is that going? What have been your biggest struggles and how did you overcome them? I am going to watch Cinnamon's "Be the light" video now. Thank you so much for painting!

TY Jane....I am not much of a chatter But I just want to tell you that I also have always loved to paint but just could NOT make it happen. I started watching KZitem about 2 years ago. I bet I've watched 100's of painting videos, and couldn't put a brush to canvas until I found you! I started with the fence and the blue flowers, then the rock walls with the pumpkin. They are both sitting at the stage where I have just done the fence, and the other one I have gotten as far as the rock walls and the back ground. I am now looking for the inspiration to move forward on them. I will get there. But I want YOU to know without you I may have never gotten the courage to put the brush to the canvas. I loved hearing your story in this video. Thank You! ...Shelby.

I was a pro dancer until a couple years ago when my knee blew out. I've been in a deep , Deep, depression ever since. I couldn't express myself any more, but I still 'see' it all... I wanted to try visual arts, but like you mentioned, I never believed I could, I had No talent. Your videos have given me hope, I've tried several, often just practicing with some techniques and backgrounds, and I Love it. It feels 'familiar', like that connection I had when movement would reach that inner self. Something I thought I had lost. Just want you to know how deeply grateful I am that you have put yourself out there doing these videos. It means more than words can express. Keep being a Light. :)

Hi Jane , love your painting but most of all the concept behind it. I'm so happy I found you your a great teacher . I have my canvas and paints I just needed some confidence and push to start painting again like you I have been painting on and off for 7 years . I just started again . Realizing that if things don't go smoothly it's my brush or canvas I have quite a few brushes that are useless so I'm doing a process of elimination . Hi, Jane! I just did this tutorial today, after doing several of your other tutorials. You could have been telling my story about how you came to paint. In my home, I have handed down paintings done by my grandmother and her sister. My mom's side of the family seem to all paint and paint well. I never even tried because taking art classes in school was total disaster for me. Failing a kid in an art class is pretty bad. LOL Well, at 45 years old, I decided I'm going to try it. I went to a sip and paint party and absolutely loved it! Been painting pretty much every weekend ever since then. I totally enoy your channel and Cinnamon's channel and have learned so much...thank you for continuing to inspire me to paint.

Thank you so much, Gina! Sounds like you had a blast :D Also, I love people who don't follow instructions. Art comes from your heart, not from a paint by numbers kit. Everything I tell you to do is merely a suggestion. My first painting I was really proud of was my abstract face. I made a tutorial of it a couple months ago. It's quite different, but holds a fond place in my heart

ooooooh! thank you -- I see Abstract Face in the sidelines here....... Neato.... I may excel on that! are you ready for this ..... I have some work on my painting lines skills..... I may call this painting the "Wacky Deer Antlers and FireBats!" 🌝 there's not a lot of light through the woods, but from darkness, there is LIGHT! I am not quite done and will have some tweeking to do..... painting title remains open! we don't grow and learn until we DO! Great opportunity for brush technique for branches and little bugs! yep.... abstract next! ravens, bats or fireflies..... branches or dear antlers -- it will of course be beautiful when it's complete!!!

Awesome Jane. When you told your story about painting, a big smile came on my face cause I found Cinnamon as well as the first You Tube lesson. Once I felt a little more confident I ventured out and like so many found You, Angela, Ginger and Clive. When I was young I ordered the drawing lesson from the old comics wanting to learn so bad and well that failed badly so I stopped then art in school and did Goofy painting and got an A. Was happy but never did anything until I took a painting night about a year or so ago. My mom can also do art, oil and water and she made it seem so easy but I just didn't have any confidence...now she wants some of MY paintings hanging in her home. So THANK YOU...we inspire you but you actually are my inspiration! And yes cheesy is the theme of today lol.

Thank you for this video. It is so inspiring. My art journey has been very similar to yours. I have painted since I was very young but never thought I was that good at it. I found you on youtube and started learning from you. I have discovered that I am a super awesome artist. I have become very proud of my work lately. I have been following you for only a few months now. However, you have been my guiding light on my art journey. So, thank you!

This painting is so beautiful. I loved listening to your story about the light. It touched me (and actually brought a tear to my eye) because the beginning is so much like my story... watching my mom paint and never saw her learn... she just knew how to do it and while I tried, I was never successful in my opinion at least so I never thought I could do it and gave up. But going to a few classes just for fun and following your tutorials, I learned that I actually can do this and have done a few paintings on my own as well. I love it so much. You are my light in this because I've learned so much from you. And for that, I thank you so much.

Wow, how interesting to find out that you followed the Sherpa! It does give me more hope for my paintings turning out right in the end. I doubt if I am ever able to paint every day, though. I have severe peripheral neuropathy and if the horrific pain isn't getting me, the strong pain drugs are putting me to sleep. But, no whining! I'm really grateful to both of you for your guiding lights and positive spirits! I've gotten one painting done and one color chart and I'm proud of both, if I do say so myself. I have many more of both of your paintings that I hope to do! I loved capturing (and releasing!) the fireflies when I was a girl. I would be out with my cousins in the summer, after dinner was over. Slowly but surely, dusk would come, and then the first of the fireflies would start to appear. I remember the distant murmuring of the adults as they talked together under the trees. It's a very beautiful memory. So, it makes me really happy that you and Cinnamon both chose "lightening bugs" as we used to call them. They are the gentlest and most mysterious type of light aren't they? Thank you for being a guiding spirit!

+Beth Arcuri Beth, just doing whatever you can do is perfect! Though I do hope you can find some pain relief soon. That IS a beautiful memory! I've never seen fireflies. We don't have them here :( I remember wanting to see them when I was a kid. Someday I hope to! Thank you for all of your kind words, Beth

I can't believe you've only been painting a couple of years. You referred to this video in stary birds...I love that we can get painting and philosophy lessons simultaneously. I enjoyed watching it all and hearing about your struggles early on and even overcoming the inner struggle with how cinnamon 's art would compare. Suppose we all go thru that... I've been told that I am my worst critic. Jane, you have inspired me to start a channel, too. Yeah! Can you please share how you got started? and any tips would be helpful. tfs your art and life :-) I admire that set a goal and followed thru cuz my parents did not teach us that.
