G'day Ronny, another great video showing off the awesome WA south coast, thanks for sharing. I drove Callcup Hill Australia day weekend and it was all about tyre pressure. Started the 100 series cruiser on 13psi with several failed attempts. Went down to 8psi and got up with ease. Stayed the weekend at Fonty's pool, great place for those who like a swim in fresh water. Regards Mark PS hope the helicopter video thing is still working, love that footage of our amazing beaches.

Thanks Ronny, enjoyed this video, as all your others. Aside from the 4WDing etc, one thing I notice and appreciate in your videos is the excellent soundtracks. We can hear the vehicles, their engines, the people on the tracks and in the camps. And great narration. And, importantly, excellent choice and use of music, selected and placed well, and not too overpowering as most of the vids on KZitem sadly are. I know that we all aren't gifted Hollywood producers, but whoever is putting your vids together certainly knows how to do it right. Well done mate, keep them coming!

Having been down there almost every year , and hearing about Callcut hill and how difficult is was/is. A group of us went down there a few years ago. We stopped at the top of the Yeagerup dune for "lunch " and to admire the view. Down onto the beach and then a hard left and up onto the run up Callcut Hill, What an absolute doddle it was. Nowhere near as challenging as I was expecting. My tyres were at 16 PSI and climbed Callcit in Hi 1st nd no problems, then decided to go back to the bottom and tries Lo2 , Lo3 and found Lo3 was by far the best gear selection. Was down there this year, but could not cross the river as it was deep and flowing swiftly. Back next year at the end of March or April , if we dont have heavy rains down there next year and see how the dunes go

You were gunning it up much faster than usual. Where you still in 4lo or did you take the hill in 4hi to keep up speed? Where your lockers on? Front and back? Did Brian have to approach it differently given the Jeep traction tech? You're a great driver, share some tips.

Been going down there for the past 10 years every year bar one ,due to family problems. Stayed in the National Park for two nights and home on the third day. In 2011, we were there in the middle of winter. The river was in flood and totally impossible to cross over. Thank goodness for parking on firm beach sand ,as when I walked towards the dunes, the beach sand was saturated and sank up to my ankles. Only one person was about a Km up the beach trying his luck at fishing. Going down the Yeagerup is a breeze and along the beach where we would all stop for lunch. Going up the Callcut dune was dead easy. I run my two rears at 12PSI and the fronts at 14 PSI. There is/was a hard rock surface about half way up. Engage Lo2nd and power all the way up till the turn off. Then inflate the tyres and head for the back packers lodge and hot showers for $2.00 ! Into Pemberton for dinner and back to camp and bed. We crossed the either the Donelly or Warren River at night and the one time when I didnt have my GPS with me, so have no idea where the crossing is. Later this year ( about May ) going down again and will find the crossing and load it into the GPS. Its a great spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.

@clarda1
9 жыл бұрын
+rogue109 I noticed that as well.. I did not see any rears spinning, but im sure the rear driver side was spinning out of view. My Grand Cherokee has Quadra Drive II and it works great, idk who would buy an open diff Jeep if they are going to off road like this.

If you watch any of the other trips, the jeep dose just as good as the other trucks with lockers on the trails. I have a rubicon and wheel it very often and i rarely have to put lockers on, and if i do its just cause im lazy to try find a better line. lol
@clarda1
9 жыл бұрын
***** There are many situations where finding a better line is not an option. I have nothing against your jeep but I would not do serious wheeling without at least a rear locker. I had a Durango that had a limited slip in the back and did worlds better than my Durango that had an open diff in the back. Even so, there were situations where having a front locker would have prevented me from getting stuck and needing a tow.

TJack, those 4 V8 trucks are Toyota 70 series Landcruisers which are 4.5l Turbo Diesel. The white utility is a turbo diesel Mazda BT50. The jeep is not diesel however but here in AUS you can get the common rail diesel Jeeps.

Slow Boat The BT50 had a 2inch lift i think and a rear locker from factory. Ronny in regards to the dual battery location would installing one in enginge bay over top of computer or install under the tray at the back ? This is on a dual cab cruiser too Or is it better to have batterys close by each other or it doesnt matter ?
@Ronny_Dahl
9 жыл бұрын
Mark Pankhurst Mine is in the engine bay BUT I will be re-locating it the rear under the tray in future as its better for the battery. Car batteries are best kept/stored in cooler areas. In the VDJ70's the second battery does not get the best ventilation as the main is blocking the air flow.

+USCOMBATDIVER well we clean our 4x4's from top to bottom quite often and i think the mud we get on there helps in removing any salt left from a beach run. Tod Lindley if you dont clean it well after it can lead to rust problems, we generally add a fresh water river crossing in to the trips for a good wash of the underneath and then hose it (a lot) when we get back including putting the hose inside the chassis rails. If you do that there should be no problems.

Thanks mate, all trucks have diff lockers apart from the Jeep which relies on traction control.

How heavy is that heavy rig? What tire pressures does he run and does he have any sort of bead locks?

Rear psi on beach we start around 20 and the front will usually be about 4-6 psi less so if 20 on the rear the front will be around 15 as a starting point.
