"I'm a beadworker first. If you want to call me an artist, that's fine," Greeves says modestly, even though one of her pieces-a pair of beaded Converse high-tops-resides in the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian (*Santa Fe Reporter).
Teri Greeves (b. 1970) is a beadwork artist who lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Enrolled in the Kiowa Indian Tribe of Oklahoma, Teri began her beading when she was eight years old on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. Through her beaded objects and jewelry, and her signature beaded high-top sneakers, she continues the tradition of telling the story of the American Indian, both contemporary and historical. Her works include beaded books, jewelry, and even high top sneakers.
