Okay did you see that on my story or are we the same person? LOL I postd a while ago that I wanted to open a vet and pet store that shared a wall and were right next to eachother. I was considering going to school to be a vet, but damn it takes four years. I wish there were more exotic vets around that knew their stuff!!

I used to keep parrots.I went through a couple years when I would look in the classified ads expecting to go buy a beautiful bird and when I got there the bird was in terrible condition. Several times I bought them and rehabilitated them.A couple of them were bald and missing most of their feathers and a couple were missing their toes.I tried different things until I found a spray that actually worked ,but it still took a year for the birds to look normal again.I see bald birds all the time on the Internet, but I never say anything,but I know that it does not have to be that way because I was able to rehabilitate a few.

I am really hoping it is NOT cancer. Bc there's nothing we can do about that. I am hoping they are just some sort of cysts. I find it SO ODD the doctor didn't want to biopsy them. I wonder if the lady who had him declined it bc of cost and just didn't tell me. We'll see. But thank you, he's very loved!

I'm glad that cutie is going to get the medical care he needs! I am surprised as well that a local anesthetic wasn't used. Whether a biopsy is suggested depends of course on what the doctor suspects that it is, which is largely based off of what each species or breed is predisposed to. It also may not have been done due to the finances of the original owner. Most exotics owners (any even dog/cat) would rather have the growth removed and just wait and see if the problem resolves. I'm also wondering how much experience the original vet has with respiles. Either way, I hope you find some answers so he can live his best life 🥰
@KristenLeanneVlog
2 жыл бұрын
You're probably right. I just find that so odd. So if they spend the money to have it removed, which is usually more expensive than a biopsy (in my experience), and it comes back, you're back to square one, you've put the animal through trauma and your money was wasted. Yes I'm hoping the vet can give us some answers soon! XOXO

Hi Kristen! About to months ago I had to make the tough decision to put my 3yo male bearded dragon down. He had a tumor that they did biopsy on and claimed to be ‘safe’ and easily removable. In total he got surgery on it 4 times in less than 1 year. The tumor was first located on the elbow of one of his front legs. It got amputated 2 times but it kept growing back very fast and very aggressive. Last time he had surgery on it my vet checked the inside of his belly to see if the tumor didn’t spread and there were no signs of tumor in any other part of his body. This was in September. A little later he went into brumation and lost an extreme amount of weight. In januari I took him back to my vet(which I really trust) and he did and echo and saw that his liver and some other organs looked extremely odd. He still gave me the choice to do another surgery on him and try to remove as much as possible but at this point my own vet told me that there was an extremely little change of him surviving this tumor. I made the decision to euthanize him and my vet agreed with that. He still did autopsy on his body and his complete inside was covered in tumor. (What we expected from the echo. Also his belly was extremely hard and thic in comparison to the rest of his body being underweight.) I really hope this one survives it but I personally haven’t had any great experience with tumors. Good luck 🍀

Hey Kristen, not sure if you’ll see this but I’ve been handed care of a leopard gecko in horrible shape yesterday by a cousins partner. It was either I take her or they continue to let her slowly dwindle away. Her previous owner had no idea what she was doing when it came to husbandry. The leopard gecko has a horrible amount of stuck shed encasing a whole foot with no toes, her other feet are missing practically every toe. Her face is covered in stuck shed and her eyes seem to be glued to the shed. I want to give her the best last years possible but unfortunately I’m not a veterinarian and as fucked up as it is for me to say I can’t afford to take her to the vet, especially in this condition. They’ll most likely charge me an arm and a leg. I have an indescribable love for reptiles and really want to see her get better, if by any chance anyone in the comment section reads this and has any advice or suggestions please leave them. Anything would help, I really am trying to do this right. I have a couple of leopard geckos and a bearded dragon that are really healthy and well raised so I know what I’m doing on that front, rehabilitating one is a whole different story though.

@@KristenLeanneVlog right?? Just because they cant communicate their pain, doesnt mean they dont feel it! Thats a possibility though. Maybe she told the vet she didnt have alot of money..but even then surely a vet would rather use the numbing agent and not charge rather than hurt an animal.

It sounds like the previous family didn’t have much money which would explain why the vet removed the lumps without a biopsy since biopsy’s are an added cost. Most likely the woman just asked for the appointment to be as cheap as possible which would also explain why they removed without anesthetics, as those can also be expensive
@KristenLeanneVlog

You are probablly right, I just didn't want to think she would do that. That all just makes me sad. That's not OK to let an animal suffer without proper treatment. Humane is proper to me, but I am glad she did the right thing and rehomed him to me.
