I don't know if you're referring to the grey Beast as Dark Beast as the evil Age of Apocalypse version, or just calling him Dark Beast because of his coloring, but I figured I'd just say that it is, indeed, the same character from different stages of his mutation. The grey version is from when he first started growing fur and wearing his Avengers trunks. The blue version is from the Jim Lee era of X-Men. I don't mean to offend or step on your toes, it just caught my OCD and I couldn't help but post. As to the review, loved it. The limited articulation bums me out, but that particular sculpt is amazing in that scale. I was thinking of passing on it until this review. Now, it's a sure buy. Grey beast can hang on something near the back of my Avengers shelf so the articulation won't bother me as much. So, thanks for the solid review.

Another good review chef, fans/collectors could use these Beast figures as a Beast evolution collection, just to be a little creative. As for me, I'm going with the 90s X-men Beast. Thanks again man

lack of articulation is really frustrating...but i think (by the looks only) that it could be easily fixable with a torso and upper legs from another big character mold like omega red, and some detailing of course

I had problems with the chest being a bit big and the arms a bit skinny which is probably due to the lack of torso articulation, this is very noticeable on Bishop and Big Time Spider-man, Beast looked like it in pictures, but not as bad on video. Great review btw, totally going to get the Jim Lee blue version.

I need to make a correction to your review, its been a common mistake...that ISNT NOR HAS EVER BEEN THE DARK BEAST !!! This is how Hank looked when he first grew fur. He didnt start off blue. Kind of like the hulk didnt start off green. He started off grey, then afteranother mutation went blue. Dark Beast wore what looked like metal leggins, had earrings and was a sadistic hot mess. Just wanted to clear that up

People congratulating Hasbro for cutting articulation in these figures... Why don't you just collect 4 inch statues if you don't care about articulation? Right! Because that would be stupid! No one is saying a 4 inch figure needs 32 points of articulation or whatever someone else said previously, but a ball hinged head, shoulders, and hips as well as swivel wrists, waist, and ankles shouldn't be too much to ask in this scale, especially at this price point. Then they'll use slow sales to justify eliminating the 3.75 inch scale of MU figures entirely!

Can the 90s Beast's head pop off and fit onto the modern Beast body? The colour would obviously be off slightly, but it's a possible compromise to have a good articulated non-feline Beast.

back in the day, when GIJOE was the thing. i was so attracted to hasbro because of the full articulation of their small figures and really hated kenner for the lack thereof. i really got a kick out of the fully articulated joes when i was a kid. so for hasbro to remove all that, well, that just sucks and hits us collectors to the core.

Am I seriously the only guy who prefers detail and sculpt over articulation? Come on, 32 points of articulation on an action figure really makes it look goofy. Really, finger articulation, toe articulation, ab crunch? Now that's just overdoing it. I think Diamond Select understands, and Hasbro is only trying out new things with collectors. Besides they gave us Daredevil and Hawkeye for articulation, but all that detail on this beast is outstanding!
@YourUncleBenis

I get fingers and toes being a problem for you, but a diaphragm joint wouldn't hurt the sculpt all that much and is essential for a figure. They're only gone because Hasbro has idiots on the new line.
@MandoCommando

The Framemaster I think there aiming for adult collectors on this line. Mostly heading for a figurine look instead of action figure. Some action figures just look ridiculous with that over stock articulation (toybiz Marvel Legends)
@YourUncleBenis
9 жыл бұрын
Mando Commando Most adult collectors I know of like plenty of articulation. Now, I won't dispute that Toy Biz occasionally pushed it on articulation(Spider-man 2 super-poseable figure, for example), but they were the ones who started the super poseability that is standard today, so they were bound to make a few mistakes. However, they did make a few hits, the MacFarlane Spidey(as it is called amongst collectors) is a good example. Marvel Universe wasn't doing too bad for a while itself, with the recent Cap having greatly integrated articulation, just what a collector would expect! This figure could've easily had that level of poseability, but the idiots Hasbro put on this line decided to follow the flow of less and less poseability on 3 3/4 inch figures, thus ruining my favorite line. So that's my point of view, what's yours?
@collinblackard614
9 жыл бұрын
Mando Commando Toy Biz were pioneers. They were willing to push the limits of action figure design. From their experimentation, we learned that an over abundance of articulation can kill the overall look of an action figure. It also means more individual pieces have to be molded and then assembled which I assume costs money. But, a lack of articulation is frustrating, too. Limited movement kills the potential for play. I think that's why a superb sculpt doesn't always make up for the loss of articulation. Especially in this figure. Smart articulation simplifies without constricting. Don't need a hip swivel when the ball joint at the top of the leg is given room to move. Don't need toe articulation when a rocker ankle allows for crouching that's supported by the whole foot. Adding a swivel to the bending elbow means you've built an arm using less parts without sacrificing movement. All points of articulation this figure has. But would you call this Beast agile, flexible, or acrobatic. No. Because it lacks fundamental articulation in its torso. An ab crunch like Hawkeye's would unlock a world of playability and pick up the slack left by simplifying other points or articulation. Case in point; Beast can't look up. You don't have to add a neck hinge because an ab crunch like Hawkeye's could have fixed that and replaced the missing waist swivel. This figure suffers without articulation that is standard in most quality action figures of today. It sucks that a movement based characters like Beast, Black Cat, and Spider-Man had to suffer from the loss. I'm an adult action figure collector. I like buying toys. I don't understand why Hasbro would think I want to stop collecting toys and start collecting statues. Eaglemoss made figurines for years and I never bought one. These figures are not a step in the right direction for adult collectors. They're a step backwards.
