It warms my heart every time I watch you set out to peddle around your neighborhood. I spent many hours from my high school years through my twenties, biking through the same Sonoma County countryside. I grew up inland, but rode out to the coast every chance I got, years worth of lazy laps around northern California. You live in such a special place. Thank you for sharing it with us, Mr. Wildeberry.

The amount of varied landscapes and micro climates within a relatively short distance around here is remarkable! I just enjoy searching through every nook and cranny on my bicycle. It never gets dull. Thanks for sharing your memories!

Looking so wet and verdant at the moment Henry. Looked like a really nice route and so good to descend to the ocean at the end. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from the North of England BTW

Thank you! The varied landscapes along this relatively short route is magnificent. The recent rains bring out all the little streams and waterfalls. Some of my favorites are the waterfalls flowing over the redwood roots.

Nice to have you back Mr. Wildeberry. Another amazing video!!! Maybe in a future video you can do a list or review of all the products you use to maintain your bicycles, like lubes, tools, cleaners, etc.

Thank you. I regretted not bringing a camera with a better lens to capture the incredible sunset. I was hoping to capture the lights of the boats shimmering on the water with the clouds in the sky.

Great video Henry. I have a question for you what width of bar do you ride and are they the same width on all your bikes.
@Henrywildeberry
7 ай бұрын
Thanks Randy! This is a narrow bar that measures 38cm at the brake levers, but with a slight flare in the drops measuring out to 44cm (center to center). I do have an ultra-wide drop bar on the dirt touring bike, but after riding it through Oregon I think it's too much. I'm planning to swap out that bar before the next long tour. I prefer narrower bars drop bars.

You use squirt in the wet? Do you bother degreasing the chain prior, like how one might for hot wax?
@Henrywildeberry
7 ай бұрын
I use squirt lube all year. It does work best if you clean the chain and apply it the night before. If I'm in a hurry I will wipe the chain down with a cloth as best I can then add a little of the lube before I ride. It works in a pinch. It's also good to wipe the chain down with a cloth when you get home from a ride. I'll admit I get lazy with that too.
@Primifluous

@@Henrywildeberry Interesting, I'll have to give Squirt a go. I bought a little bottle of the stuff during the pandemic and never got around to trying it out. Just bought Rock n Roll Gold lube, hoping it does as the bottle promises and clean and lube the chain all at the same time. Regarding being lazy with the chain, oh don't we all. Last thing I want to do at the end of a ride is squat next to my bike and run the chain through the rag for a couple minutes.

Woof i miss California! I remember a similar ride dashing to the coast after work having dinner at the Russian House. Great to see the creeks running too! I hope riding and filming is safe enough. Would hate to see you crash. The insta 360 folks are using to capture riding seems pretty sweet, and can be mounted to the bike. ✌🏻️

Hi Froste, California hasn't been the same since you left. The Russian House is now under new ownership, but when it will reopen is still TBD. I dropped the camera twice on this ride. I think it's toast...as you can see from the final images things got blurry. Looking at the lens later I noticed it was fractured. I prioritize my own safety. Needless to say I'm looking for a replacement. Come visit anytime.

Mr. Wildberry it has been a while since I've watched a video. Why, I have not seen any notifications, can't remember the last one or find it. I had to pull your channel up to get here. Wanted to ask you what you think of belt drive bicycles. Thinking about one to be more maintenance free. I wonder why I'm not being notified.
@Henrywildeberry
7 ай бұрын
Hi Mike, thanks for checking back. I’m not sure why you’re not getting notifications. It may have to do with the algorithm. I like the idea of the maintenance free belt drive. The reason I stick to chain drive is the efficiency aspect and option to move parts around from different bikes. I’m also deeply rooted into the chain drive system. A belt drive requires a different hub and dropouts at a minimum, but more likely a completely different bottom bracket. If you’re interested in going that route I would recommend testing a bike first, and make sure it will work for you. Best of luck and let us know what you decide. It would be great to have a first impression.
