So many memories again flashed back...like the emergence of smaller cars. In the 40s the cars were all big, heavy and "kuba" parang hunchback at parang walang baggage compartment. In the late 50s lumabas ang big cars where one could lie down sa back seat and baggage compartments that could fill 7 kids. This I know dahil I was locked in the compartment together with 6 other playmates. Somebody had this beautiful idea to play bahay bahay sa compartment. Then in the 60s, although big cars like Impala, Buick, Dodge, Belvedere were popular, lumabas na ang smaller ones like Vauxhall, Hillman and Renault. My dad, a car enthusiast, refused to buy a small car dahil wala daw maisasakay doon.

I can’t believe you all know those cars. Even the not so popular Vauxhall, Hillman and the cute 4 door Renault. Being into cars myself, I can tell by just looking at the cars what time the video/photo was taken. The cars themselves brings back memories of times we were with our parents.

60s hairstyle was flyaway with the tips of the shoulder-length hair were curled outward. Akala nila simple lang ito gawin but no! First the hair was washed then towel dried. Next beer as in pale pilsen was applied as a hair rinse. Using curlers, the hair was curled outward. After several hours when the hair was dry, curlers were removed and hair was tissed hanggang mag mukhang bruha. Then it was styled to smoothen the outside portion of the hair pero the inside ay mala bruha pa rin. The outward curls were carefully sprayed with hair spray and the whole head could use a full can of hair spray. Mas matigas mas better. If one had a party in the evening, dapat 9 am nasa parlor ka na. One had to go through the day with curlers and will return to the parlor at 3pm. Such torture! Well people then seemed to have lots of time. A day seemed so long that I could hardly wait to watch my fave tv show, The Wild Wild West, dahil crush ko si Robert Conrad. In fact I was one of thousands who met him at the airport when he visited in 1966. When I saw him hindi pala siya tall, about 5'7" lang, but he was so so handsome rosy bedimpled cheeks pa. Fan girl kuno...

Yes @ kabayan Leila Recio. Beer ang isa sa secret application sa hairstyle na ganyan. Hahaha! You really have to wait for a couple of hours bago ka umizquierda going to a “ tipar.” Tapos naka square front neckline cut ka or Bateau neckline dress… Whoa! Head-turner ka talaga for sure! And yes, si Robert Conrad, the private investigator named Tom Lopaka in Hawaiian Eye. Girls (including my girl cousins) really went nuts over that fella. That lucky bastard….Hahaha. Haay. Those days….. Thanks @ kabayan Leila for your story… Napaka nostalgic talaga ng mga kwento mo. Keep safe ha.. 🙂🙏🇵🇭

@Lelia Recio; Before Wild, Wild West, Robert Conrad was the Bad Guy in the movie Palm Springs Weekend. A spoiled brat driving a ‘63 Thunderbird to ensnare Connie Stevens just to dump her. Also starring was Troy Donahue and Stefanie Powers - matinee idols in the ‘60s. It was shown at Universal Theater in Avenida Rizal. Am sure you will loathe him as he portrayed his role very well. But yes, everybody loves him as the fearless secret service agent with Ross Martin in the TV series Wild, Wild West.

@@jomagiii but i found him so handsome with that bad boy image especially when seen driving hisThunderbird. But definitely his James West persona was the ultimate. But he seemes to have lost a lot of charisma in the series Baa Black Sheep.

The ‘60s, Buttoned down collar Paisley polo shirt by Paul Celestial with matching German khaki pants. Jarman moccasins from Soriente-Santos worn with Burlington white socks. The de-rigueur attire of college boys for Saturday Night Parties. You could easily be Benjamin in the ‘68 movie The Graduate chasing Katherine Ross. I enjoyed the movie as I was also a fresh graduate and was also given a gift but no, no Mrs. Robinson.

The first slide showed the official photo and soundtrack album cover of the movie, "The Graduate", that starred a newbie actor Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft; from which the background music of your video was culled (Mrs. Robinson). I remember that movie because its theme became sensationak and controversial back then - about a young inexperienced man being seduced by a sexy but married adult woman. Taboo daw ang theme sabi ng mga madre. Huwag daw panoorin sabi ng pari. People all the more became curious and watched it. Nowadays, this theme is considered common in everyday life. Hay...the decadence of moral values...
@jomagiii

@Celia Recio, the term Cougar was not yet invented then. :)) Speaking of moral values, one of the greatest predicament a single woman finds herself in is getting pregnant without the benefit of marriage. You will be called *Disgraciada* rejected by both parents and society. Nowadays, single women are proud to call themselves single parent, and all is good.

@@jomagiii everything seems so different now that sometimes I feel I do not belong in this world. I get culture shock often and do no get to understand the hows and whys of this generation's line of thinking. In our time, black is black and white is white.
