That's too much tension.😬 Over time, it can lead to tension alopecia along the edges of the hairline if the hair is constantly styled so tightly. A many of black women suffer this condition because they tie/rubber band/braid their hair waaaaay too tight. You can cause hair loss permanently along the hairline if you continue applying so much tension. It's pretty, yes... but when you start seeing bumps form and a dimpled scalp because the hair is pulled too tight in the braid, ponytail, hair clamp, rubber band, or barrette, you have too much tightness on the scalp going on. I don't mean to be a Debbie downer, but as a stylist, I couldn't keep scrolling without giving a word of caution first.😮🫣🤔🫡 My intention is not to offend but rather to educate. Thank you for hearing my heart. 😊❤😊

@carlam.crawford200

@olayinkaa.m9670 I don't know what she's using in this video, but there are a few products that have a similar effect on the hair and are better for it. It looks like she was using some type of grease, which has its positives and negatives. Hair greases have petroleum and mineral oils which makes the hair manageable and appear moisturized, but acts like a laminate. It lays on top of the hair, but doesn't penetrate it, which prevents the desired effect of moisturizing the hair strands and leads to dryness and breakage. It also clogs the pores on the scalp and increases build-up, which reduces hair growth. A clean healthy scalp environment is essential if you have a desire to grow hair, and piling too much greasy product (of any kind) on your scalp can lead to clogged pores. Natural oils are a better choice as they mimic the natural oils your scalp secretes called sebum. Natural oils are much lighter on the hair, is easily absorbed into the scalp and keeps your hair follicles moisturized. Excess hair grease makes your scalp a thriving ground for dandruff. It could also lead to scalp conditions, such as seborrheic dermatitis or eczema. It would be more useful to lock in moisture with a natural hair butter rather than hair grease. It actually absorbs better and works well for hair strands. I am more inclined to use natural oils and butters on my own hair and have had great results. Coconut oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, grape seed oil, macadamia oil, Jamaican black castor oil, amla oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, essential oils and vegetable glycerin are top picks. You can make your own, and use it instead of what you would buy at a beauty supply store. Apply a tiny bit to your fingertips then massage into the scalp. Remember, a little bit goes a long way, because too much oil can also lead to build-up, and weigh the hair down. That said, there are a number of children's hair care products on the market that do an amazing job of controlling fly away hairs and all of that other good stuff you're looking for to make sure that your daughter's hair is beautiful such as: Cantu care products, Shea Moisture products, Carol's Daughter hair care products, Mielle Organics products, knot having it, Baby Curls and more from Aunt Jackie's hair care product line, and frobabies. I am certain that there are natural hair care products out there that can help you with your hair goals. You don't need to have what the woman in the video is using so long as you are using the right products for your hair follicles and you are handling the hair with the utmost care by not applying too much tension when styling, you are taking great care of your hair ends by trimming when needed, using very little to no heat, and above all else keeping a clean and healthy scalp environment. So in addition to your normal shampoo and conditioning routine, you should use a clarifying shampoo to strip away oils and debris from the scalp and hair to aid in making sure that you are maintaining a clean and healthy scalp. You might also be wondering how to tell if your or your child’s hair is dry or damaged. Damage can happen gradually, so you should be mindful of these signs that indicate hair is damaged: It feels rough or brittle Constant or increased breakage Increased knotting/tangling Decreased elasticity and does not hold a curl Split ends and appears dull... to name a few. So, that's my two cents. I hope that it helps. 😉 🍻 Cheers to keeping your and your child’s natural hair healthy and beautiful, and to a fast and easy natural hair routine.

I understand what you’re saying. Hopefully she doesn’t apply the rubber bands often. The little girl has a beautiful head of thick, healthy hair.
@carlam.crawford200
Жыл бұрын
@luvlapetite1421 She does have thick gorgeous hair. I just think that her mother needs to lighten up with the tension. Those rubber bands are too tight. You can see the little girl reach toward the back of her head where it appears to be slightly red. This is before Mom is finished adding more tightly rubber band ponytails, which only adds to the tension. If you look closely, you can see where it is pulling. The last and final rubber band, where she brings all the ponytails together to form an afro puff, is the worst one because it makes the already tightly rubber band hair even tighter. That not only causes breakage at the perimeter of the head (edges,) but it causes tension headaches as well. That's not good. How many times have you had to loosen a ponytail, braid, or barrette because it was giving you a headache or causing discomfort? I know I have. It's too much! It weakens the hair follicles and leads to tension alopecia. In particular, this is where it starts, with caretakers who don't realize that they are putting too much tension on their babies' heads and hair follicles. In the long run, when the hair is significantly thinned out on the edges (front and back,) the hair loss is irreversible, and that is not cute.
