I Think I remember seeing my first ever feather pour. I was just getting started with acrylic pouring and Olga Soby was celebrating a milestone on KZitem with one of her signature kiss cup feather pours. I tried this of course and it’s harder than it looks! And she makes it look so easy and perfect that I figured there was no scope for me to make a video of my inferior version. A good while later, when I’d learned a lot, I understood how her technique worked and I realized that you should be able to do the same thing with a split cup. Just fill one compartment with the background color and then move the cup so that one leads the pour. I made a video of this technique in November 2020 - • Acrylic Pouring - Feat... . Turned out ok except for the boring color choice. Fast forward to a few weeks ago (Early September 2021) and I’m trying to plan some colors for my latest wire pour. I was trying to ripple pour yellow, purple, aqua and a deep blue. The challenging color here is the yellow which makes either brown or green when mixed with some of the other colors. To try to stop any mixing in the cup I just put the yellow in last and hoped. What this did was make the yellow be like a background for everything else and they blended beautifully leaving a really cool fleur-de-lis look. I’ll add a photo of that at the end of the video if you want to see it. It’s on my color check canvas so forgive the mess of the other mini pours on there. As for the wire pour? I wanted the contrast color to be more prominent so I ended up using gold. You can see that pour at • Acrylic pouring - Paci... . It turned out ok. But I did promise myself to come back to the cool effect of putting the yellow on top. I tried a few different things with it, including a fern garden as I thought it had an organic look, but it always ended up looking like a feather - so there you have it - The origins of Pour Away’s one cup feather pour. By the way I’m not saying this is a new invention. I’m sure someone out there has done a one cup feather pour before, but I’ve not seen it, so it still feels worthy of a video. It’s so very easy, quick, forgiving and effective that I feel everyone should try it. If you think so too please feel free to share the video. Also hitting the like button and leaving a comment really helps the KZitem algorithm decide if something is worth putting in front of people - so do it! :-)
Resin finish is Art Coat from Stone Coat Countertops. It’s awesome.
Thanks Everyone!
Happy pouring
