This song is written by Hannah Senesh HY"D, poet, hero, and freedom fighter. She left the safety of her home in Israel to parachute into Europe to save other Jews from the Holocaust. She was captured, tortured, and martyred at the age of 23. Thank you so much for keeping her words alive with this beautiful music.

This is Jewish music, not a nation's music. The Torah called us "the people *of* Israel" before the term "Jew" came to be. Israel is not who we are. We are diaspora worldwide, and take great pride in our home countries. Please don't mistake our religious Jewish music as national music for the state of Israel. Two different things entirely. Israeli music can be any music in Hebrew, while Jewish music is literally part of our worship worldwide. The US has the highest Jewish population in the world btw... Tired of the modern state of Israel being used to define and challenge us. We are human beings of many states, for many millennia.

Just beautiful. Sung with such feeling. I learned the song and about Chana Senesh in Camp Massad when I was young 67 years ago. It is such a heart wrenching story that should be told over and over again so that the young people of today will remember her story and how much we lost in WWII and the founding of the state of Israel. She was only 23 years old when she died after being tortured by the Nazi's for months and then being shot by a firing squad. Todays children don't appreciate all they have and how important Israel and being a Jew should be to them. What a brave young woman Chana was and what a loss. I wish there was a recording with her other songs as they are all so beautiful and meaningful. EUdice Stein Germaine

Your Hebrew is incorrect, and we're not a scriptural religion - thus we don't quote scripture like you Christians do. The book of Psalms is not in our Torah; that ain't our book, homes. Please be respectful of the sovereignty of my religion from yours. Jews are not Christians, you cannot take ownership of our songs, language, culture, etc just because some Romans in 300 CE pretended Jews converted to Christianity along with them. Nah, they were too busy persecuting us.

Our book is the Torah (5 books of Moses), not the Old Testament (24-49 books depending on Christian sect). Our prayers don't come from the Torah, we're not a scriptural religion, they come from the Oral Torah - the Mishnah. This prayer comes from a poem written by a female Jewish resistance fighter who got caught on the border of Hungary on her way to try to free her people from the camps, and executed by the Nazis. This song adaption is sung in both Hebrew & English in synagogue during services. Please be more respectful of our religion going forward. We are not Christians, we are Jews.

@@firstlast1357 No god is above Jewishness or not. There are Israelites from shevot(tribe) of Manassah, Ephraim till this day after separatipn happend kingdom of Judah and Israel 3000 years ago, Their high priests are aaronic lineage from eleazer son of Aaron, and do not Identify as Jewish but as Israelis and are called Shamerim or watchers of the torah and do not consider Jerusalem holy because that's tribe of Judah's holy place. They only follow torah(5 books) and disregard most of old testament and do not identify with mainstream surviving jewish pharisees. God literally makes covenant with every nations and want those nations to bond together in his love. God made covenant with Arabs(bnei Yishmael) via Islam, God made covenant with Israelites through moses, God make covenant with Persians and aryans via zarathustra the monotheist, god makes covenant with hindus through first yogis who were monotheists. Covenant of god with Europeans through christianity but christians corrupted the one god just like modern hindus and denied most of 10 commandments and called those who keep torah judaizer, but nonetheless there are christians who keep covenant such unitarians and christodelphians and Jwitnesses

Mubarak Alsaleh Salam. you are remarkably well informed. Personally I’m having problems with religions that claim that Only their believers will be saved. God is Rachman to everyone who proved by their behaviour being worthy. It is my opinion that Religions that demand that people believe in their prophets, or in the religion itself instead of believing in God are wrong. Shalom.
