When "Beauty and the Beast" was re-released to IMAX screens and home video in 2002, Disney took the original sources of the film and not only did they add a newly animated musical number ('Human Again'), they've changed the color scheme and re-edited it. They've put this altered version as the master for the 2002 VHS and DVD releases. In this video, you can notice a much amount of difference from how it originally looked like, and how they so-called "enhanced" it. There are some inconsistencies between the comparison, but blame Disney.
Another thing to mention is that the original film was presented in the 1:66:1 aspect ratio. Disney cropped the image to 1:85:1 for the remaster so parts of the top and bottom have been cut off.
I'm uploading this for another reason. Disney is going to re-release Beauty and the Beast again on home video and it will be making its Blu-ray debut. They have already re-issued it in select theaters in Disney Digital 3D, so I'm guessing that Disney has made a NEW master for the film. I've heard some people saw it, impressed, but I haven't for myself. Let's just hope Disney had preserved the aspect ratio and color scheme (and did not fucking plaster the 2006 WDP logo over it!).
