We hiked a bunch of trails and areas in Colorado on our trip, but this was the best for it's view and challenging terrain. 10 out of 10, would recommend. The trail itself is very rocky with various scrambles mixed in with some more easy-going parts. Definitely recommend bringing a small pack with water, snacks, and even some minor supplies like first aid if you plan on tackling this trail. Good shoes/boots are also a must. I would not recommend doing this one in the winter with icy conditions due to some of the steep drop-offs at various points.
More about the Beaver Brook Trail:
Beaver Brook trail starts in Golden. Looking down onto Clear Creek, it moves through north forested slopes. After beautiful vistas, it drops into Beaver Brook itself before climbing out to a ridge. The trail on the west side drops down into Beaver Brook and then climbs back out to the top of a peak. There is a fair amount of wind on that side of the mountain. This route features some sections of scrambling and rocky talus.
The Beaver Brook trail system is easily accessed from the east, at Chimney Gulch near Golden or from Windy Gap on Lariat Loop Road or from Colorow Road at the Lookout Mountain Nature Center. From the west it can be accessed from the Stapleton Drive trail head off I-70 at the Chief Hosa.
