This video gives a close-up look at a beaver eating leaves off of a large branch.
Beavers are herbivores. Their primary source of food are certain deciduous trees, from which they eat the twigs, leaves, new bark and the cambium, but not the wood itself. (Cambium is th e layer of new growth of wood just under the bark). They also eat a wide variety of aquatic plants, roots, grasses, weeds, flowers and shrubs when they are available.
This beaver was filmed in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
