Your ability to set, check, catch big ol’ beavers and reset with those rods is awesome. Just getting into trapping myself and am enjoying coming along your channel.

The more I watch, the MORE I am liking those drowning rod setups! At first I thought it was going to be too much work carrying those around, but in reality, it appears to be a lot LESS work, and you have everything you need with only the rod, stake and trap.

Awesome catch on the line today!! I was actually out today & there isn’t very many bigger Creeks around me but one about maybe a mile from my place & today I actually noticed some activity by a bridge that I had went over!! But the water in the creek isn’t even 6” deep & never gets really deep unless we get a decent amount of rain!! I guess over all the years I have trapped I’ve always put snares in we’re the water is deep enough for them to swim along the banks & smell the caster that I dangle over the top of the snares!! I’m not so sure how I’m going to set this area up yet but I’ll figure out something hopefully!! What do you think you would do??

Trapper J when you make your own castor lure make SURE to mix in some sac oil from the oil glands above the castor. Use the sac oil from the most full, biggest castor you take. I made my own lure this year and that little truck totally upped my catch rate.
