I came across this video completely by chance. It makes me wonder how many songs that I'd absolutely love I have yet to meet, or will never hear.

if you listen to just 5 new songs everyday you will be listening to 18250 songs every decade. You could definitely make a pretty decent dent into the worlds library of music.
Why is Music made by Yoko Kanno & Aoi Teshima always so great? Its easy.... Because Yoko Kanno and Aoi Teshima. Yoko Kanno might be the greatest composer of our age. I hope her music will live on forever in the hearts she touched and that they will create a legacy worthy of this genius beautiful human being. I love this woman and I am so glad I exist in a time to be able to listen to her music

Its a beautiful song. While sad and melancholic at first glance it is imminent with the first hearing that the music somehow makes us feel hopeful. If we look at the song text so it goes from a "young day" full of ideals over good experiences "we shared we learned" to bad experiences "we had and we lost" because the future is uncertain and we can't possibly account for all possibilities the future has in hands for us "because tomorrow had another plan" and yet we learn and look hopeful to the future "because we lose the future is all we have left" tells us to stop bothering ourselves with past mistakes and instead concentrate on the next step and use what we have learned to do better. But we will be confronted with bad experiences over and over again. "one pain one hope too far, so close" tells us we were better this time but it still wasn't enough so we continue to grow "we laugh we cry we live we grow" sure here are bad things too but the main part is "we life AND we grow" and again because "the future is all we have left". It continues with "hold on somewhere" so we should look for what we have already managed to do to get more energy for what is to come. Next "we stand we leap we fall and we go" its just how we learn to walk we stand first than we have the courage to leap and although we may fall we manage to walk "go" in the end. And again we are reminded off the fact that "the future plays another hand" and we can never manage to do the perfect thing and be safe all the time but at the same time the music grows and we hear "surely some day" almost like a mantra repeating for ourselves over and over again - surely some day i will have leared enough and i will make no mistakes anymore- yet having understood that this is more of a credo a phrase a believe than a fact. We will never be free of mistakes and we will never be entirely perfect. And thats okay. Because we will never stop to learn and to grow and become better than we were before. Because no matter what, yesterday is gone and the future is all we have left. So why bother with yesterday? just live, learn, grow and await tomorrow as optimistic as possible. With this the song comes to its conclusion. For it has said all it had to say. A longer song would have overdone it yet i keep returning and listening to this song over and over when i am facing some negative experiences. It somehow always manages to make me feel a little better. The music and the words are just so well put together. Just as much as is needed but not more than necessary. It gives it somehow a kind of magic one can almost feel the Aura/soul that was put into it.

Somehow, I don't think this song is sad. I don't know how to put it but I feel a lot of hope : past is past, we have to move on. We lived, but there's still plenty of things to live for, because the future is all we have left. I may be wrong, but that's how I understand it. I really love this one.
